Job Description

Lead compliance excellence, influence strategic decisions, and help protect what matters most to our members.

As a key member of our Risk and Compliance team, the Senior Compliance Manager provides independent oversight and expert guidance on regulatory compliance across the Bank. Partnering closely with business leaders, you will help ensure the organisation meets its obligations under legislation, regulatory standards and industry codes, while providing trusted advice on compliance risks, regulatory change initiatives and day-to-day business operations.

Leading a team of compliance professionals, you will oversee compliance incident management, including investigations, breach assessments, remediation activities and regulatory reporting. This is a varied and dynamic role that balances strategic framework enhancement with hands-on operational support, offering the opportunity to strengthen the Bank’s compliance culture and drive continuous improvement across the Compliance Program.

In this role, you will

  • Provide expert compliance advice and regulatory guidance to leaders across the Bank.
  • Lead the Compliance Advisory team and support the ongoing maturity of the Bank's Compliance Framework.
  • Drive the assessment and implementation of regulatory change, ensuring the Bank remains compliant in a dynamic regulatory environment.
  • Oversee the management of compliance incidents and breaches, including investigations, reporting and remediation activities.
  • Influence key business initiatives and projects by providing regulatory insight and risk-based advice.
  • Represent the Bank with regulators, industry bodies and governance forums, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and positive compliance outcomes.

Qualifications

About you

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in financial services compliance, regulatory advisory or risk, with a strong understanding of the Australian banking regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex legislation and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, commercial business advice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence decision-making and engage effectively with senior leaders, executives and regulators.
  • Experience leading regulatory change initiatives, compliance frameworks or governance programs within a complex organisation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations and prepare high-quality reports for a range of audiences.
  • Leadership experience with a passion for coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, compliance, business, audit or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
