The Senior Companion Recruiter-Manager performs community promotion and outreach work in support of the AmeriCorps Program. Under the general direction of the Senior Companion Program Supervisor/RSVP Project Director, the SCP Recruiter- Manager will represent the Senior Companion Program and provide information and guidance regarding program services. The employee is expected to require minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The employee’s principal responsibility is for developing and maintaining an extensive cadre of volunteers for the targeted volunteer stations and/or activities as required by the grantor. The Recruiter-Manager will place volunteers and conduct necessary training/or orientation. The employee will assist in all aspects of AmeriCorps volunteer recognition activities and planning. The employee is expected to prepare all necessary reports required by the contract in a timely manner. The volume of work may increase at peak seasons and may require work schedule accommodations because of increased workload or other demands.
Contacts potentially eligible volunteers to encourage participation in program services and activities.
Prepares, maintains, and prints a variety of program forms, records, and reports.
Maintains volunteer activity logs and program records, ensuring timely submission in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Recommends improvements to program operations, policies; assist in the development of work plans, budgets, and resource projections.
Recruits new volunteers through outreach, presentations, and community engagement activities at various locations throughout Hidalgo County.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with local agencies, community organizations, and resource centers.
Completes referrals for community services and coordinates access to appropriate resources for volunteers and clients.
Monitors volunteer applications, timesheets, and required documentation, ensuring compliance with program requirements and volunteer station procedures.
Coordinates program activities with community agencies and partner organizations to promote public awareness and understanding of the AmeriCorps programs.
Implements recruitment, retention, volunteer recognition, and program fundraising initiatives in support of program goals.
Provides staff support to the Senior Companion Program Supervisor/RSVP Project Director and/or Program.
Advisory Council by assisting with planning, consultation, and implementation of activities, policy changes, special projects, and events.
Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Senior Companion Program Supervisor/RSVP Project Director.
High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education is preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of direct work experience in a social services or related program.
Demonstrated excellent written communication skills, including the ability to develop plans, newsletters, reports, and other program publications.
Experience in volunteer management, recruitment, and placement is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
Proficient in data entry and the use of electronic reporting systems.
Bilingual (English and Spanish), with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
