Job Description

Overview

Welcome to one of the most dynamic and high-impact areas at Microsoft—Copilot Communications. The Copilot Communications team is hiring a Senior Communications Manager to lead the year-round momentum, customer, and partner storytelling strategy for Microsoft 365 Copilot. Working alongside teams responsible for launches and major announcements, you’ll build the stories that keep Copilot relevant between news moments—and show what AI is making possible for people and organizations today.

You’ll operate like an investigative journalist inside Microsoft and across our customer community, uncovering the people, unexpected use cases and measurable results behind the growing use of AI at work. You’ll turn those discoveries into credible, human stories that show how customers are solving meaningful problems, creating new value and reimagining how work gets done.

You’ll also look beyond the traditional technology news cycle, finding timely ways to connect Copilot to cultural conversations, seasonal moments and shifts in how people work. The canvas is broad: an earned feature, customer documentary, creator collaboration, executive byline, podcast, live experience or a format we haven’t tried before. You’ll work across communications, marketing, product, engineering and customer teams to take the strongest ideas from first insight to public impact.

This is a high-visibility role for someone with a reporter’s instinct for finding stories others miss, a producer’s creativity in bringing them to life and the strategic judgment to know what will resonate, where and when.

At Microsoft, we believe meaningful ideas come from diverse perspectives and experiences. We welcome individuals who bring unique backgrounds, fresh thinking, and a passion for learning. If you're energized by emerging technologies, inspired by storytelling, and excited to help shape one of the most transformative technologies of our time, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Own the always-on storytelling strategy for Microsoft 365 Copilot. While other teams lead launches and major announcements, you’ll build the stories that keep Copilot relevant between news moments and show what AI is making possible in the real world.
  • Operate like an investigative journalist inside Microsoft and across our customer community. Find the people, unexpected use cases and credible results that reveal how Copilot is changing work, then turn the strongest discoveries into stories others will want to tell.
  • Build an editorial calendar around the moments when work enters the broader conversation—from tax season and graduation to the return to school, the future of specific professions and emerging cultural debates about AI.
  • Invent new ways to bring Copilot stories to audiences. That could include an earned feature, a creator experiment, a customer documentary, an executive byline, a podcast, a live experience or a format we haven’t tried before. You’ll match the story to the audience rather than defaulting to a traditional press playbook.
  • Create a consistent pipeline of high-impact storytelling that builds understanding of Copilot through evidence. Partner across communications, marketing, product, engineering and customer teams to develop the idea, secure participation and carry it from first insight to public impact.
