JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Communications Manager serves as the operational lead for day-to-day communications execution across Vibrant Works, managing internal and external communications and marketing initiatives that strengthen the Vibrant Works brand, advance organizational priorities, and support engagement with employees, customers, partners, and the community. The position manages communications across digital, print, media, and organizational channels while ensuring consistent brand messaging, accessibility, accuracy, and quality.

The Senior Communications Manager also leads marketing support for Base Supply Center (BSC) operations and Business Development, developing and executing marketing campaigns, e-commerce promotions, sales collateral, customer-facing content, and other materials that support customer engagement and business growth. The position partners closely with BSC Operations, Business Development and Sales, Mission Advancement, and other departments to translate organizational and business priorities into effective communications and marketing initiatives.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Communications & Content

  • Develop and execute internal and external communications plans that align with organizational priorities, programs, initiatives, and events.
  • Manage the development, writing, editing, and coordination of content across social media, email newsletters, websites, presentations, print materials, and other channels, ensuring communications are clear, accurate, accessible, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Develop, edit, and coordinate bilingual employee and organizational communications in English and Spanish, as needed.
  • Maintain organizational website content and coordinate updates to ensure information remains current, relevant, accessible, and consistent with organizational messaging.
  • Monitor communications and digital marketing trends, including social media and SEO best practices, and recommend opportunities to strengthen reach and engagement.
  • Identify and develop compelling stories that communicate Vibrant Works’ mission, impact, programs, employees, and accomplishments across internal and external communications channels.

Brand, Public Relations & Media

  • Implement and reinforce Vibrant Works brand standards across organizational communications, marketing materials, and digital channels to ensure consistency and integrity of the brand.
  • Develop and coordinate press releases, media materials, and organizational announcements.
  • Coordinate media relations activities, maintain media contacts, and identify earned media opportunities that increase awareness of Vibrant Works’ programs, accomplishments, events, and mission impact.

BSC & Business Development Marketing

  • Partner with BSC Operations and Business Development and Sales leadership to establish marketing priorities and develop and execute marketing plans and campaigns that support business goals.
  • Develop sales and marketing content for BSC and Business Development, including sales collateral, capability materials, brochures, catalogs, presentations, web and digital content, customer success stories, and other customer-facing materials.
  • Coordinate marketing support for conferences, trade shows, customer outreach, and other Business Development and Sales initiatives.
  • Ensure BSC and Business Development marketing materials align with organizational brand, messaging, and accessibility standards.

Cross-Functional & Department Support

  • Partner with departments across the organization to identify communications and marketing needs and provide guidance on messaging, materials, brand consistency, and communications approaches.
  • Support fundraising communications and coordinate communications-related work performed by shared departmental resources.
  • Coordinate communications and promotional support for organizational events and initiatives.
  • Facilitate organizational tours and other stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Manage multiple communications and marketing projects simultaneously, establishing priorities and coordinating timelines to ensure timely completion.
  • Support the Vice President of Communications in coordinating day-to-day Communications department priorities, projects, and deliverables.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field required.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and executing communications and marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
  • Experience developing marketing or sales-support content for business development, sales, e-commerce, or customer-facing initiatives preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Exceptional written, verbal, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to develop and adapt communications for diverse audiences and effectively engage employees, leadership, customers, media, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in communications, public relations, digital marketing, social media, content development, and brand management.
  • Ability to translate organizational, operational, and business development priorities into effective communications and marketing strategies, campaigns, and content.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, website content management systems, social media platforms, email marketing, SEO, and other digital communications tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency, accuracy, accessibility, and quality.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, identify communications and marketing opportunities, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Professional bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout facilities and event locations as needed.
