Context & Environment

  • The affiliate operates in a dynamic external environment with growing stakeholder expectations, increasing public visibility, and expanding project activities in Suriname.
  • The Communications team plays a role in safeguarding the company’s reputation, reinforcing brand positioning, and ensuring consistent and transparent messaging.
  • The position requires close collaboration with internal clients, HQ teams, partners, and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines, TotalEnergies’ values, and local regulations.
  • The role demands agility, proactivity, and strong ownership to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced and evolving context.

Activities

  1. External Communications
    • Support management in developing and executing the affiliate’s external communication plan, aligned with the strategic roadmap of the branch.
    • Plan, produce and monitor social media content and paid campaigns; manage media planning and digital advertising.
    • Oversee brand exposure initiatives, ensuring compliance with TotalEnergies brand guidelines and maximizing engagement opportunities.
    • Coordinate external communication actions, ensuring consistency of messages across all channels (press, website, social media, events).
    • Monitor market trends, competitor benchmarking and propose proactive communication initiatives (reactive statements, thought leadership, op eds).

2. External Events

    • Plan and manage events : institutional events – involving different category of stakeholders, fairs, industry conferences, seminars, and technical exhibitions.
    • Coordinate booth design, logistics, branding assets, suppliers and post event reporting.
    • Identify opportunities for executive visibility and representation in external forums.

3. Content Production

    • Produce and/or review content for internal (newsletter, intranet) and external channels (website, brochures, press kit).
    • Responsible for creating, updating and localizing all corporate institutional materials (brochures, videos, presentations, corporate film).
    • Draft scripts for videos and support production logistics, filming coordination and approvals.
    • Ensure message consistency with brand positioning and corporate guidelines.

4. Sponsorships

    • Map opportunities, lead the approval process, and monitor sponsored projects.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements, including management of contract counterparts – brand visibility, social media campaign, press releases, goodies, etc.

5. Internal Clients (Internal Business Partners)

    • Support internal teams (CSR, HSE, Local Content, HR, Operations) in deploying their external facing activities, ensuring proper messaging, branding and alignment with the external communication strategy.
    • Strengthen the perception of Communications as a strategic partner within the affiliate.

Candidate Profile

  • Education : Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Professional Experience: 7–10 years of experience in Communications, with expertise in external communication, content production, events, branding.
  • Technical Competencies:
    • Experience in external communication tools and strategies.
    • Experience managing digital channels, social media planning, paid media, and analytics.
    • Solid skills in content development for internal and external audiences.
    • Experience supervising suppliers, creative agencies, and event producers.
    • Knowledge of branding governance and corporate communication standards.
    • Ability to prepare briefs, scripts, key messages, and spokesperson support materials.
    • Understanding of sponsorship and visibility management.
  • Languages
    • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
    • Dutch are considered strong assets.
