SENIOR COMMODITY BUYER

SOUTHFIELD, MI WORLD HEADQUARTERS

As a member of the Purchasing team, the Senior Commodity Buyer will be responsible for managing the purchasing and negotiating of materials from suppliers. Responsible for cost effective procurement and delivery of materials to support plant and customer requirements in a just in time automotive environment.

THE ROLE:

Your work will include, but not limited to:

  • Direct commodity buying responsibility as well as providing leadership within the group
  • Extensive work experience and judgment required to plan and accomplish strategic goals
  • Negotiates long term agreements and yearly savings in line with expectations
  • Develops commodity strategies to achieve results
  • Understanding of commercial terms and total cost management concepts required

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires minimum of 5 years commodity purchasing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related business field or equivalent experience
  • Negotiating principles/skills
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lead within a team
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • High level of integrity
  • Priority setting and time management
  • Action oriented & produces results
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment
  • Superior conflict resolution skills while maintaining strong relationships and rapport
  • Independent workload prioritization, focusing efforts on the most critical and impactful activities

Bonus If You Have:

  • MBA
  • Automotive cross-functional experience
  • Experience with plastics commodity
  • Previous SAP ERP experience
