Work that really matters
The Land and Environment Court of New South Wales is a specialist court with a wide jurisdiction, responsible for interpreting and enforcing environmental and planning laws across NSW. The Court forms part of the Courts and Tribunal Services Division within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
The Court is a superior court of record established under the Land and Environment Court Act 1979 It hears matters across eight classes of proceedings, spanning both civil and criminal jurisdictions.
The Court is comprised of seven Judges, who hold the same status as Judges of the Supreme Court, along with ten Commissioners and a number of Acting Commissioners, all appointed in line with the requirements of the Act.
