Job Description

HHG Legal Group is continuing to strengthen and expand its Commercial practice and is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Practitioner to join our growing, award-winning firm.

This opportunity is suited to a highly capable commercial lawyer with significant post-admission experience who is looking to work on sophisticated matters, build strong client relationships, contribute strategically to the growth of a successful practice, and play a leadership role within a progressive and collaborative firm.

The Opportunity

Working closely with our Commercial Partner and Managing Director, you will provide strategic legal and commercial advice to a diverse client base including private businesses, family enterprises, agribusinesses, investors and high-net-worth individuals.

You will enjoy significant autonomy, direct client engagement and the opportunity to take ownership of complex matters while contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the Commercial team.

Your work will include advising on:

• Complex commercial contracts, including supply, services, distribution, agency, consultancy, technology and SaaS arrangements
• Contract risk allocation, liability frameworks, indemnities, warranties and dispute avoidance strategies
• Corporate structuring, governance, compliance and business succession planning
• Shareholder agreements, constitutions, partnership arrangements and joint ventures
• Business sales, acquisitions and restructures, including due diligence, transaction management and negotiation of key transaction documents
• Competition and consumer law, regulatory compliance and risk management
• Executive employment, contractor and incentive arrangements from a commercial perspective
• Strategic, General Counsel-style advisory services to boards, business owners and senior executives
• Commercial dispute management and resolution strategies, working collaboratively with our litigation team where required

You will also play an important role in mentoring junior lawyers, strengthening client relationships, identifying growth opportunities and contributing to the continued success of the practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Significant experience in commercial and corporate law
• Extensive experience advising clients across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
• A strong track record of advising on complex commercial transactions and strategic business matters.

Well-developed commercial expertise gained through substantial experience in private practice.

• Demonstrated experience leading complex commercial matters and managing key client relationships.
• Leadership capability and a genuine interest in mentoring and developing others
• A collaborative, solutions-focused approach aligned with HHG's values and culture
