Commercial Auto, Bodily Injury & General Liability Claims Examiner III (CE III)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Auto, Bodily Injury, and General Liability Desk Examiner III to manage complex casualty claims involving commercial auto exposures, bodily injury, property damage, and general liability matters. This role requires strong analytical ability, coverage interpretation skills, litigation management experience, and the ability to negotiate and resolve high-exposure claims efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex Commercial Auto, Bodily Injury (BI), and General Liability (GL) claims.
  • Handle moderate to high exposure claims involving bodily injury, property damage, comparative negligence, and litigation.
  • Review and interpret policy coverage, liability, damages, and exposure analysis.
  • Conduct recorded statements, review police reports, medical records, and other claim documentation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Manage litigated files in partnership with defense counsel, including review of litigation strategy, discovery, and settlement authority.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, vendors, and insureds.
  • Maintain compliance with all state regulations, internal best practices, and claim handling standards.
  • Provide timely and accurate claim documentation, reporting, and file management.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, risk management, and other internal departments as needed.
  • Mentor or provide guidance to junior adjusters when applicable.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience handling Commercial Auto, Bodily Injury, and/or General Liability claims.
  • Experience managing litigated and complex casualty claims.
  • Strong knowledge of liability investigations, negligence evaluation, and coverage analysis.
  • Familiarity with commercial transportation, fleet, trucking, or public entity claims preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining quality standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA are a plus.

  • Public entity or municipality exposures
  • Serious injury and complex liability claims
  • Litigation and attorney-managed claims
  • Multi-state claim handling experience
