About Us - Values Overview
Department Summary
The Honors College helps approximately 2,000 undergraduate students get the most out of their UNT experience by providing in-class and extracurricular activities that are broader, deeper, or more complex than the norm. Honors College members may take Honors courses, engage in undergraduate research, participate in Honors College programming, live in Honors College housing, and enjoy other membership benefits. Membership is open to students from all majors. Admission decisions are made based on a holistic review of application materials, including transcripts, a personal statement, and a resume. Being an Honors College student at UNT is not the same as—and does not require—participation in high school honors programs. All academically motivated students are encouraged to apply.
The Honors College Recruiter plans and implements recruiting activities for prospective Honors College students and their families, contacting and meeting with prospects about UNT, and helping students decide on UNT. The HCR also: 1) serves as chair of the Honors College admissions committee; 2) helps to plan and carry out freshman and transfer orientations; 3) represents the Honors College at numerous events; 4) plans and presents numerous programs on behalf of the Honors College; and, 5) works collaboratively with other colleges, as well as the Division of Admissions.
