Job Description

We're hiring Senior CNC Machinists to join a premier aerospace and defense contract manufacturer experiencing explosive growth in the Cincinnati area. In this role, you will be tackling mission-critical components on a massive scale—our smallest parts are roughly the size of a suitcase, and many are the size of boats.

Our shop floor is highly specialized and features an elite lineup of heavy-duty, large-format machinery, including Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs), Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), large-format 5-axis mills, and massive gantry mills. You will be machining highly complex fabricated weldments, large castings, and exotic aerospace alloys where no two parts are exactly the same.

You are not expected to walk in on day one with experience running every single one of these exact machines. If you are a high-level, senior machinist with a deep mastery of machining fundamentals, G-code, and complex setups, your skills will translate. We are looking for elite problem solvers who want to elevate their craftsmanship to the highest level.

Why Join Us?

  • The Most Technical Shop in Town: This is the pinnacle of precision machining. If you cut your teeth here and master our state-of-the-art equipment, you can work absolutely anywhere in the industry.
  • Massive Scale & Complexity: The rare opportunity to challenge your skills by working on complex, 1-of-1 large-format parts for high-stakes aerospace and defense programs.
  • Elite Equipment: You will be working with rare, high-end machinery and controls (like Heidenhain) that you simply won't find in standard job shops.

Compensation

  • $34 - $48 / hr starting base pay
  • Unlimited overtime, guaranteed 50 hour week, make up to $140k / yr
  • Guaranteed 60-day review

Shift Options

  • 1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (M-F)
  • 2nd Shift: 5:00 PM - 3:30 AM (M-F)

Responsibilities:

  • Setup & Operation: Perform highly complex, independent set-ups on massive parts. Utilize overhead cranes and heavy rigging to safely maneuver, flip, and arrange components weighing thousands of pounds.
  • Process Ownership: Perform autonomous prove-outs on 1-of-1 parts. Fluently read, edit, and catch programming defects in CNC programs (G-code/M-code) directly at the machine before cutting expensive materials.
  • Adaptability & Problem Solving: Machine complex fabricated weldments and forged castings (rather than just raw stock) where every part has slight variations, requiring intense critical thinking and on-the-fly troubleshooting.
  • Documentation & Specs: Read and interpret complex, multi-view blueprints (including cut and section views) and strictly apply advanced GD&T to establish datums and setups.
  • Materials Expertise: Machine high-value, exotic aerospace materials including Titanium, Inconel, Hastelloy, and advanced composites.
  • Leadership & Culture: Bring a perfectionist's mindset to the floor. Maintain strict professionalism, take extreme ownership of your parts, and mentor others in a high-stakes environment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Required

  • Experience: 5+ years of high-level CNC machining experience in a precision job-shop or aerospace environment.
  • G-Code Mastery: Deep understanding of G-code and M-code with the ability to define, edit, and troubleshoot code live at the control.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional ability to read complex blueprints with multiple cut/section views and establish your own datums.
  • Setups: Proven ability to perform your own independent setups, tear-downs, and first-article inspections with zero hand-holding.
  • Clearances: U.S. citizenship is strictly required due to defense-related work. Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Preferred

  • Large Format Expertise: Proven experience working with massive parts and navigating the unique machining and overhead crane/rigging challenges they present.
  • Large Format Machinery: Hands-on experience with Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs), Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), large-format 5-axis mills, or gantry mills.
  • Specific Machine Brands: Experience operating Union, Cincinnati, MTE, Bost, Tosh Ulin, DMG, OMV, Parpas, or Dinamika equipment.
  • Controls Mastery: Fluency with Heidenhain (highly desired), Siemens (Turning), or FANUC controls.

Benefits

  • Bonus / profit-sharing program
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Unlimited optional overtime available
  • Employee ownership / equity participation program
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

About Laborup

Laborup is the #1 AI powered talent platform for America’s industrial workforce. We use AI to create jobs, not take them away. We help HR and plant leaders hire and keep the skilled workers who keep plants running: machinists, welders, maintenance techs, operators, industrial electricians, and engineers. USA Today called us the “LinkedIn for blue collar workers,” and Forbes profiled our work in “How AI Is Solving America’s 1 Trillion Dollar Manufacturing Labor Crisis.”

Today we work with manufacturers from 50 person shops to large public companies with tens of thousands of employees, and the story is the same everywhere. It is hard to find talent, hard to keep good people, and staffing costs keep rising. In a market where filling critical industrial roles can take months and turnover is constant, Laborup helps teams move qualified workers from first contact to on site interview in days instead of weeks and keep them on the floor longer.

Most of the workers our customers need are not on LinkedIn or the usual job boards. Laborup uses AI to find this hidden workforce, call and text them, screen and qualify them, build real profiles, and match them directly to the plants and roles where they can succeed. For workers, that means real, permanent roles at serious manufacturers, not one off gigs. For companies, it is durable infrastructure for hiring and retention at scale in a labor market that will stay tight for years.

We work across nuclear, defense, and advanced manufacturing, as well as sectors like aerospace, automotive, and food production. Teams that use Laborup hire 5 to 10 times faster, see around 3 times better retention, and cut cost per hire by up to 50 to 70 percent. That turns into fewer empty shifts, fewer missed orders, more stable teams, and more capacity without more headache.

We are building the modern talent system for America’s industrial base with a simple long term goal: put a billion industrial workers to work in good jobs that matter.
