Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior CMS Solution Architect / Technical Lead based in Canada.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity supporting a large-scale digital experience modernization initiative across a complex multi-site and multi-brand public web ecosystem. You will shape the architecture of an enterprise CMS/DXP environment designed for scalability, security, maintainability, and long-term evolution. The role combines solution architecture, technical leadership, CMS modernization, cloud architecture, and content migration. You’ll work closely with UX, content, design-system, DevOps, and engineering teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. You’ll guide implementation teams, establish engineering standards, and ensure production readiness across the platform. This is a remote contract role in Canada, with potential travel within the country.

Accountabilities:

    • Define the overall CMS/DXP solution architecture for a complex multi-site and multi-brand digital ecosystem.
    • Translate business, UX, content, and technical requirements into scalable and maintainable architecture.
    • Design content models, reusable components, templates, and multi-site architecture patterns.
    • Guide CMS configuration and implementation while limiting unnecessary customization and technical debt.
    • Develop and lead strategies for migrating large-scale content estates from legacy enterprise CMS platforms.
    • Define integration patterns for identity, analytics, search, and other enterprise systems.
    • Lead technical design reviews and establish development standards, architectural principles, and best practices.
    • Provide technical direction to full-stack developers and review implementation quality.
    • Establish security-by-design practices covering web security, privacy, RBAC, SSO, identity, and related controls.
    • Collaborate with DevOps and SRE specialists on cloud architecture, environments, CI/CD, monitoring, and operational readiness.
    • Address performance, scalability, observability, logging, reliability, and production requirements.
    • Support technical documentation, knowledge transfer, implementation governance, and production readiness activities.
    • Provide client-facing technical leadership and communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
    • Requirements

      • 10+ years of experience in software or solution architecture, including substantial experience with enterprise CMS/DXP platforms.
      • Proven leadership of at least 2 significant enterprise CMS implementations or re-platforming initiatives
      • Strong experience designing multi-site and multi-brand CMS architectures
      • Hands-on experience with modern headless or hybrid CMS architectures.
      • Strong cloud architecture expertise and experience with modern software delivery practices.
      • Solid knowledge of CI/CD, automated delivery, and contemporary engineering practices.
      • Strong understanding of web security, privacy, RBAC, SSO/identity, observability, and enterprise integration patterns.
      • Experience planning and executing large-scale automated and manual content migrations.
      • Ability to collaborate effectively with UX, content, design-system, and engineering teams rather than operating exclusively as a backend architect.
      • Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, technical leadership, and decision-making skills.
      • Experience with enterprise CMS/DXP platforms such as dotCMS, Liferay, Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Contentful, Drupal, Optimizely, or comparable technologies.
      • dotCMS implementation experience is particularly valuable.
      • Experience with Liferay migrations is an asset.
      • Experience in government or Canadian public-sector digital transformation is an asset.
      • Experience delivering large-scale multi-site implementations is an asset.
      • Experience with AWS-based managed CMS environments is an asset.
      • Familiarity with Canadian data residency requirements and SOC 2 environments is an asset.
      • Experience integrating with Entra ID or other enterprise identity platforms is an asset.
      • Experience supporting WCAG 2.2 AA public websites is an asset.
      • Candidates should be prepared to describe 2–3 enterprise CMS projects they personally architected or led, including the source and target CMS where applicable, number of sites, approximate scale, and their specific responsibilities.
      • Benefits

        • CAD $80–$100 per hour for this multi-year contract opportunity.
        • Fully remote position available to candidates across Canada.
        • Potential travel opportunities within Canada.
        • Opportunity to lead architecture for a large-scale, enterprise digital experience modernization initiative.
        • High level of technical ownership and influence over CMS/DXP architecture and engineering standards.
        • Exposure to complex multi-site, multi-brand, cloud, content migration, security, and enterprise integration challenges.
        • Opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, UX, content, design systems, DevOps, and SRE.
        • Potential to work with modern and enterprise-grade CMS/DXP technologies.
        • Opportunity to shape scalable, secure, and maintainable digital platforms with significant public-facing impact.
