About the role

General Job Outline:

• Develop and maintain relationships with our clients at all levels, including the working level, C-suites, decision-makers and key influencers of assigned clients.
• Analysing and underwriting treaty risks according to risk quality, risk appetite and the Group guidelines
• Effectively manage cross functional teams to deliver appropriate solutions to meet client's strategic growth aspirations, as well as driving new Retakaful demands from the markets to meet Swiss Re's own growth aspirations.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure Swiss Re (and generally you as the Client Underwriter) is the first port of call for assigned clients;
• Technical treaty underwriting, to establish risk quality, costing & pricing to arrive at appropriate reinsurance terms and conditions in accordance with Swiss Re criteria, parameters and underwriting guidelines.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of clients, with optimal and efficient utilization of SR resources and at all times ensuring appropriate contribution and profitability targets are met;
• Develop/Execute business plans including marketing objectives and strategies in respect of the portfolio of clients in assigned markets;
• Identify opportunities to work with assigned clients by delivering SR value propositions, and to secure business to meet plan;
• Take leadership internally across various functions to ensure the teams are aligned to perform optimally for our clients.

About You

• Minimum 7-10 years of relevant insurance/Takaful or reinsurance/Retakaful experience.
• Strong treaty underwriting background.
• Market knowledge & existing relationships with insurance/Takaful companies in Malaysia and preferably from other SEA markets.
• Language skills: English (must), Proficiency in speaking Bahasa Melayu and/or Indonesia will be an advantage.
• Action orientated with 'hunger' to achieve good results.
• Outgoing, confident with excellent social skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills, marketing and negotiation skills. Public speaking skills will be an advantage.
• Self-starter, problem solver, creative, entrepreneurial, persistent, determined, ability to learn quickly and think on one's feet.
• Good network and markets knowledge within Asia.
• Motivated and results oriented with an ability to work in a team (including coordinating various stakeholders and inspiring cross functional team) and ability to deliver under pressure.
• Willingness to travel as required.
