About the Role

Our client, a well-established organisation within the financial services industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Handler to join their team in Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced claims professional who has strong technical knowledge and leadership capability and is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing claims effectively while providing guidance and support within the claims function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and assess claims in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Apply strong technical claims knowledge to ensure accurate and efficient claims decisions.

• Review and validate claims documentation and supporting information.

• Identify potential risks, discrepancies and areas requiring further investigation.

• Ensure claims are processed within agreed service levels and turnaround times.

• Provide guidance, support and technical assistance to junior claims team members.

• Assist with the resolution of complex or escalated claims.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date claims records and documentation.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and internal policies.

• Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Contribute to continuous improvement within the claims function.

• Support the development of team members through coaching, knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance.

Minimum Requirements

• NQF Level 4 / Grade 12.

• RE5 qualification.

• FAIS compliance.

• Minimum 5 years' claims experience

• At least 1 year of experience in a Senior Claims position

• Strong technical knowledge of the claims process and insurance environment.

• Demonstrated leadership or team support capability.

• Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
