About the Opportunity

This role is accountable for the provision of personal and empathic service to customers and the proficient assessment of life claims in accordance with TAL’s claims philosophy, claims procedures, policy wording and within stated authority limits.

A key focus of this role involves providing a best-in-class client and customer experience, including regular communications in relation to the status of claims and managing expectations, to deliver on quality health and claim outcomes. We are specifically looking for candidates with experience with TPD and Medical non-disclosure.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Managing a portfolio of TPD claims in a proactive, cost-effective, creative and innovative manner

  • Ensure active engagement of key stakeholders to deliver timely outcomes for our customers; this includes: Initial and ongoing claims assessment (including ensuring accurate interpretation and application of policy wording); determination of correct benefit entitlement and relevant calculation, following consideration of disclosures and financial requirements; and determination of liability within delegated authority and finalisation of claims.

  • Providing exceptional customer service to clients, including managing communication with clients relating to the management of their claim including attending to client’s enquiries;

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the timely and quality management of claims, including participating in case conferences, peer case discussions, instructing third party service providers and monitoring the service provided

  • Participating in business area and/or Company projects as required

  • Coaching and influencing the team to improve their case management practices and outcomes

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Experience with TPD and Medical non-disclosure.

  • Demonstrated experience is a must have, in a similar role involving life, lump sum, trauma and income protection claims assessment in the life insurance industry

  • Ability to build rapport and empathy with customers during difficult times

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field (Desirable)

  • Medical, vocational or rehabilitation background (Desirable)
