Job Description

A well established tier 2 civil contractor is strengthening its tendering team in Sydney and NSW. The business sits within a broader, vertically integrated construction group, giving you genuine depth behind your tenders and real support during delivery, not just at bid time.

This role is integral to the tendering function. It suits an estimator who can price from first principles, understands buildability, and enjoys contributing to the full submission, including methodology and non price documentation. The project mix spans civil and structures led work across NSW, with strong exposure to transport and road authority scopes

The opportunity

You will join a contractor that publicly backs disciplined planning, scheduling and budgeting, and that has clear, documented systems around quality, safety and environmental responsibilities.

The group's integration means you are not estimating in a vacuum. In house capability across plant, heavy haulage, quarry and materials, concrete, rail and specialist services strengthens both pricing confidence and delivery methodology, which is exactly what sophisticated clients expect in Sydney and NSW.

The role

You will take ownership of tenders from initial review through to submission, working closely with operations, construction and commercial teams to build deliverable, competitive outcomes.

Typical project exposure includes transport and road works, utilities and services interfaces, structures and bridge related scopes, and broader civil packages.

What you will be doing

  • Developing first principles estimates and hard dollar build-ups across civil and structures scopes.
  • Engaging subcontractors and suppliers to lock in market-tested pricing and delivery constraints.
  • Producing and reviewing tender documentation, clarifications and returnable schedules.
  • Supporting non-price submission inputs such as construction methodology, staging and program logic.
  • Building tender programs using Microsoft Project and or Primavera P6 to align scope, sequencing and pricing assumptions.
  • Maintaining cost databases, benchmarking, and post-tender handover packs to support delivery teams.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating governance, accuracy and bid processes.

About you

You will be an experienced civil estimator with credible exposure to bridges and complex civil scopes, up to $150M, and you will be comfortable operating as a senior member of the bid team.

Key experience and capabilities likely to suit this role include:

  • Significant experience in bridge and civil estimating across NSW-style project environments.
  • Site-based delivery experience is highly regarded, particularly where it has informed your buildability and methodology thinking.
  • Strong capability in preparing and contributing to non-price tender documentation and construction methodology narratives.
  • High attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines within a live tender pipeline.
  • Solid planning software capability using Microsoft Project and or Primavera P6.
  • Experience with Expert is preferred, or you can demonstrate quick adoption of structured estimating systems.

Why join

This role is with a multi business civil construction group with an established presence in NSW and a Sydney office base, offering both stability and variety.

The business backs its safety claims with formal systems and accreditations, and it is explicit that safety is fundamental to how work is done. That matters if you are experienced enough to know the difference between a slogan and real operational standards.

You will also be joining an organisation that publicly lists tangible people benefits and development investment, including training and development, wellness initiatives, private health insurance discounts, and fitness membership discounts.

Finally, there is credible industry recognition behind the delivery brand, including published results from NSW civil construction awards and year on year awards commentary.

How to apply

If you would like a confidential discussion, apply with a short note outlining your estimating background across civil and structures, and the estimating tools you are strongest in.
