Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineering Program Manager to coordinate substation engineering projects with a focus on resource-loaded scheduling and civil/structural project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering as applied to substation infrastructure, coupled with advanced skills in managing project timelines, scheduling resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed resource-loaded project schedules for multiple civil/structural engineering projects, across multiple clients within the substation engineering discipline.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage resources to align with project milestones and deliverables for the civil/structural and site civil engineering components.
  • Lead program management activities including scope definition, risk management, budgeting, and progress tracking for civil/structural and site civil engineering substation projects.
  • Collaborate with civil/structural and site civil engineering leads and electrical engineering department, as well as the internal Project Management Org (PMO) group, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
  • Monitor project performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts or resource constraints and assist in implementing mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance protocols.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to drive project success.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within program management processes.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. Dependent upon your location, this opportunity offers a generous relocation package.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering and project management, preferably in substation or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in resource-loaded scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to substation design, structures, foundations, grading, drainage, and site development.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, Agile) and software, is preferable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with utility or energy sector projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes related to civil site work.
  • Knowledge of structural and foundation design processes, as they relate to construction ready drawing creation.

  • Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required.
  • We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Compensation Range

$82,380.00 - $125,860.00
