Job Position : SENIOR CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Objectives of the function

• Deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective civil & structural designs

• Ensure integration across multi-disciplinary engineering teams

• Lead design execution for reinforced concrete and structural steel works

• Support site engineering, inspections and construction resolution

• Develop junior team capability and maintain high quality standards

Mission and tasks

• Perform structural analysis and design using approved software

• Design foundations, concrete structures and structural steelworks

• Prepare design criteria, specifications and technical documentation

• Coordinate and integrate inputs from other engineering disciplines

• Support plant layout development

• Prepare tender documentation including SOWs and BOQs

• Conduct technical evaluations of civil & structural tenders

• Provide on-site technical support, inspections and compliance checks

• Monitor project schedule, progress and cost impacts

• Review and approve construction drawings

• Prepare end-of-job close-out documentation

Skills

• Expert knowledge of foundations and concrete structure design

• Expert knowledge of steel structure analysis and design

• Proficiency in design software (e.g., STAAD, Prokon, Robot or similar)

• Knowledge of infrastructure design and earthworks

• Strong documentation and specification writing ability

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Good organisational and planning capability

• Strong stakeholder and client liaison skills

Prerequisites

• Knowledge of applicable standards and codes (SANS, ACI, AISC, Eurocodes)

• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Ability to interpret P&IDs, layout drawings and structural drawings

Diplomas

• BSc / BEng Civil Engineering (Required)

• Professional Engineer Registration (Pr.Eng – ECSA)

Experience

• 10–15 years industrial civil & structural engineering experience

• Experience in petrochemical and heavy industrial environments
