Senior Civil Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to establish and grow our Civil & Structural capability in Christchurch. This is a rare opportunity to lead an emerging South Island team while working with clients across manufacturing, industrial, energy and water sectors.

You’ll have the autonomy to make an impact, build strong client relationships and help define the future direction of Aurecon’s Christchurch civil capability.

What the role feels like?

This is more than a traditional senior engineering role. You’ll be trusted to lead, influence and grow capability while working alongside a highly experienced national team delivering some of New Zealand’s most interesting industrial, manufacturing, water and energy projects.

You’ll lead a small team from day one, grow that capability over time and create a lasting impact on Aurecon’s South Island presence.

What you’ll do?

• Lead delivery of civil design packages across industrial, manufacturing, water and energy projects.
• Build and strengthen client relationships throughout the South Island.
• Mentor and support developing engineers as the team grows.
• Lead and review earthworks, stormwater, drainage and site development designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand and Aurecon’s global business.
• Support business development and market growth initiatives.
• Grow and develop the Christchurch civil capability.
• Contribute to successful project delivery from concept through construction.

What you’ll bring?

• 8+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Strong civil design capability across earthworks, drainage and site development.
• Experience delivering projects within industrial, manufacturing, energy, water or related sectors.
• Confidence building relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Leadership, mentoring or team growth experience.
• Strong commercial awareness and practical project judgement.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, or progress toward chartership.
• A desire to help grow both a team and a business.
