Job Description

Queensland Rail have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer in our SEQ Track and Civil Engineering team.

Based in our Corinda depot, this role is primarily responsible for providing technical engineering advice to a variety of external and internal clients to assist in providing engineering solutions across Queensland. You will also provide engineering support on a variety of track and civil engineering projects.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Working autonomously to provide engineering technical services to achieve objectives against specific KPIs, budgets and timeframes.
  • Provide engineering support on a variety of track and civil engineering projects.
  • Managing resources, consultants, and contracts to assist in the delivery of safe, timely and commercially sound engineering solutions.

We are seeking interest from candidates who have:

  • Ability to demonstrate and discuss practical experience, hands-on worksite construction experience essential.
  • Strong focus on safety and proven capability managing stakeholders, contractors, unexpected events and on-site challenges.
  • Previous experience in civil asset management, maintenance or construction, with willingness to learn and rapidly build capability.
  • Experience in providing engineering design and technical support, ideally within a rail environment.
  • High level of civil engineering support skills, including drainage, stormwater, civil works and track-related activities.
  • Proven relationship management skills, including negotiation, problem solving and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Commitment to a value‑engineering approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple high‑priority or high‑pressure projects simultaneously with strong prioritisation skills.

Our standard working hours are 38 hour per work week Monday to Friday, however whilst limited, there may be requirement for some pre-planned/occasional ad-hoc weekend work or outside hours work to support design works.

Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
