You’ll work alongside experienced civil engineers, project leads, surveyors and other consultants, turning engineering concepts into practical, detailed and constructible designs. With a strong pipeline of work across residential, commercial, industrial and civil infrastructure projects, no two projects will be quite the same.

This is a role for an experienced draftsperson who wants more than simply producing drawings. You’ll have the autonomy to own your deliverables, contribute your technical expertise, mentor junior team members and have a genuine influence on how projects are delivered.

The opportunity

As a Senior Civil Draftsperson, you’ll play a key role in producing and coordinating civil drafting and documentation and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing accurate, detailed civil drawings and documentation using AutoCAD
• Taking ownership of drafting deliverables, from initial design through to issue and construction
• Interpreting engineering designs, specifications and survey information to develop practical and constructible solutions
• Working closely with engineers, project leads, surveyors, architects and other consultants to coordinate design documentation
• Reviewing drawings for accuracy, consistency, quality and compliance before issue
• Managing revisions, drawing files, document control and drafting workflows
• Undertaking site inspections where required and incorporating site findings into documentation
• Applying relevant Australian Standards, legislation and project requirements
• Supporting engineers and project teams with design documentation and project deliverables
• Contributing to the ongoing improvement of drafting standards, systems and processes
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior drafters
• Collaborating with drafting teams across STP’s Queensland offices where required

About you

You’re an experienced senior civil draftsperson who takes pride in the quality of your work, understands what makes a drawing practical and constructible, and can confidently manage your own deliverables.

You’ll ideally bring:

• 8+ years’ civil drafting experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy
• An associate degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Drafting or Design
• Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD
• The ability to confidently interpret engineering designs, specifications and survey information
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, legislation and statutory requirements
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to drafting quality and document control
• The ability to work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and take ownership of your work
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, consultants and clients
• A practical, analytical approach and strong computer literacy
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to share your knowledge with others
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
