Senior Civil Design Engineer - 3D Site Design

Twin Cities Metro, MN | Direct Hire | $80,000–$110,000

Konik is partnering with a growing land surveying and civil design firm to add a Senior Civil Designer to their team. This organization supports primarily private-sector development projects across the Twin Cities, working closely with developers and builders to move projects from survey through permitting and final design.

This is a design-first, production-focused role ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the technical details of grading, drainage, and site layout—not managing projects or sitting in meetings all day.

Senior Civil Design Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed civil site designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Create grading, drainage, and utility layout plans for commercial and residential developments
  • Perform stormwater modeling using HydroCAD
  • Prepare stormwater management reports and drainage calculations
  • Design storm sewer systems, ponds, and related infrastructure
  • Produce complete, permit-ready construction plan sets
  • Collaborate with survey teams to integrate field data into final designs
  • Respond to municipal comments and revise plans as needed

Senior Civil Design Engineer Qualifications

  • 8+ years of civil site design or land development experience
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with HydroCAD stormwater modeling
  • Ability to independently complete grading and drainage designs
  • Proven experience producing full plan sets for municipal permitting
  • Strong understanding of site grading, utilities, and stormwater systems

Preferred Experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (not required)
  • Familiarity with Minnesota municipal review processes
  • Experience working on small-to-mid-size commercial and residential developments

Additional Role Details

  • Design-focused role with minimal project management responsibilities
  • Typical projects include commercial sites, retail developments, and residential communities (2–5 acre range, with some larger developments)
  • Highly collaborative but lean team environment (~10–12 employees)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000–$110,000 (depending on experience)
