We are looking for a rail experienced Senior Civil Designer to play a key role in delivering high-quality, practical civil design solutions across the rail network.


This is a senior, hands-on design role with strong autonomy and technical leadership responsibility. You’ll work across asset maintenance and capital projects, collaborating with engineers, project teams, and various other stakeholders to deliver safe and commercially focused outcomes.

What you’ll be doing


As a Senior Civil Designer, you’ll be responsible for both technical delivery and coordination, including:

  • Leading and coordinating civil design activities across multiple rail projects.
  • Producing and reviewing high-quality drawings, models, calculations, and quantity schedules.
  • Working across AutoCAD, MicroStation, 12D, and earthworks modelling platforms.
  • Ensuring designs are compliant with Queensland Rail standards, Australian Standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with engineers and senior stakeholders to improve design standards, quality, and constructability.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Designers and Drafters.
  • Undertaking site inspections and supporting constructability reviews and design validation.
  • Working closely with Asset Maintenance teams, Signalling Design, and SEQ and Regional Project Delivery teams.
  • Operating autonomously while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.


What you’ll bring


You’ll be a technically strong, delivery-focused designer with proven rail experience, bringing:

  • Extensive experience delivering civil design outcomes in a rail or heavy infrastructure environment.
  • Strong capability coordinating design tasks and small project-based teams.
  • A commercial mindset with solid project management and delivery skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering quality and safety management systems.
  • High-level proficiency in CADD systems and digital modelling, with a strong eye for detail and constructability.
  • Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Railway experience is essential for success in this role.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to work independently across complex projects.


Qualifications and other information

  • At minimum hold an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering (or QR approved equivalent).
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, 12D, and earthworks modelling.
  • Willingness to travel to site as required across SEQ and regional Queensland.
