We're looking for a Senior CIAM Engineer to provide technical leadership across our Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) platforms, with a strong focus on Auth0 (target platform) and Okta (legacy/transition platform).
This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who can confidently lead technical conversations, solve complex identity challenges, and drive secure, scalable authentication experiences for millions of customers.
What You'll Do
Lead the design, configuration and operation of Auth0 and Okta platforms
Own customer authentication, registration, MFA, identity federation and token management solutions
Drive platform standards, reusable identity patterns and engineering best practices
Lead L3 production support and major incident resolution across CIAM platforms
Introduce modern authentication capabilities like Passkeys, social login, risk-based authentication
Support Medibank's migration from Okta to Auth0, including onboarding new brands and customer cohorts
Partner with product, security, architecture and delivery teams to balance security, customer experience and delivery outcomes
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the CIAM capability
What You'll Bring
8+ years' experience working with CIAM platforms
Strong experience with Auth0 and/or Okta. Other platforms (e.g Ping Identity, ForgeRock) welcome too.
Experience with MFA, passwordless authentication, FIDO2/WebAuthn and adaptive authentication
Strong production support experience, including L3 incident management and root cause analysis
Hands-on experience with JavaScript, Node.js, APIs and distributed systems
Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
Strong understanding of identity security, OWASP principles, token security and fraud prevention controls
Experience working within regulated or security-conscious environments
Nice to Have
Multi-brand or multi-tenant CIAM experience
Experience with passkeys, social login and risk-based authentication
AWS experience (CloudFront, WAF, Lambda)
Exposure to Splunk, Datadog or ELK
Insurance, healthcare or financial services experience
