Our Aberdeen Office is based in Loirston, Aberdeen and is home to our engineering support teams & energy services team. The Offices are modern with close access to walks, shops and restaurants.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Senior C&I Engineer.

The primary function of the role is to provide site support for the control and instrumentation function at St Fergus Gas Terminal. In this role you will work closely with the maintenance and operations team to provide sound engineering solutions to operational matters. This consists of troubleshooting and design and execution of modifications. This pertains to field instrumentation, control valves, ESV, BDVs, SIS including ESD, F&G, process metering and analysers.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be able to work with a high level of autonomy on all assigned control and instrumentation related assigned work scopes. Provide support to Lead C&I engineer to ensure they can achieve successful overall management of the SFGT C&I team.
  • Be primary focal point for control and instrument engineering interface between the engineering and terminal teams. This includes general C&I site support, troubleshooting and support to C&I instrument technicians on any operational matters arising.
  • Review and approve work scopes undertaken by / provide supervision, direction and support for C&I and metering of Graduate Engineers and Engineers. Maintain the required technical quality of work delivered by the C&I group.
  • Maximise availability of equipment and ensure appropriate maintenance is conducted in line with Company procedures or requirements. Provide input into maintenance philosophy for C&I including maintenance tactics.
  • Be conversant/comply with UK Legislation, Company Rules, procedures and instructions, contributing to appropriate procedural and system updates.
  • Assess deferrals to maintenance activities for instrumentation and metering.
  • Ensuring terminal safety, reliability and availability is maintained through monitoring of instrument maintenance performance, identifying equipment issues and appropriate actions to address.

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC in Control or Instrumentation discipline, or equivalent
  • Working experience of the application of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. Full functional safety lifecycle knowledge.
  • HAZOPs, LOPA, and SIL Determination, SIL Verification and Validation processes.
  • Desirable: Industry accepted certificate in functional safety (e.g. TUV Rheinland)
  • Understanding of documentation and certification required to mobilise to UKCS offshore sector (MIST, BOISET, etc.) is preferred.
