Senior Childrens Residential Support Worker

Department: Residential

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Foxglove Manor - Lancaster

Compensation: £31,398 - £33,474 / year

Are you a passionate and experienced support worker ready to take the next step in your career? Do you thrive in a nurturing, child-focused environment where every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference?

Location: Lancaster
Salary: Up to £37,834*
Hours: full time (permanent)
Shifts: 2 days on (including sleep nights), 4 days off

We’re looking for a Senior Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Lancaster, in a 1 bed home supporting children and young people in a safe, caring, and structured home environment.

About the role:

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll play a key part in the daily life of our home. You’ll help lead your team on shift, provide hands-on care, and support the young people through their everyday experiences — the highs and the lows.

Your role will include:

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals
  • Supporting care plans and helping young people achieve their goals
  • Leading by example and supporting junior colleagues on shift
  • Promoting a safe, clean, and happy home environment
  • Encouraging learning, development, and independence in every child
  • Keeping records up to date with care and professionalism
  • Taking part in sleep-in shifts and working a 2-on, 4-off rota (with advance notice)

What You’ll Need:

  • A minimum of 12 months experience in an Ofsted registered residential children's home
  • A level 3 diploma (or above) in Residential Childcare (or an accepted equivalent). Applications may be considered for candidates that are close to achieving the diploma
  • A full UK driving licence – essential for transporting young people and attending external meetings
  • A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach to care
  • Be able to work shift patterns including sleep ins (Rota plan given in advance but likely to be 2 on 4 off)

Successful employment is subject to satisfactory Full Enhanced Disclosure, right to work and reference checks in line with government regulations and Safer Recruitment Practices (the company will cover the costs).

All young people are equally entitled to have their needs met in a fair and balanced way. Esland employees are responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other perceived difference.

What we can offer:

We want you to feel valued and supported in your role and as such, we offer a number of benefits, incentives and inhouse. Our benefits include (but are not limited to):

  • A day off for your birthday (in addition to your holiday entitlement)
  • Access to a holiday home based in the Peak District where you can stay for free, on the company!
  • A casual dress code
  • Free food while you are on shift
  • Enhanced pay rates for overtime and bank holidays**
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training (accredited by the Bild Association)
  • Career development opportunities – we had over 100 internal promotions last year!
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program, Online GP, healthcare and cashback, discounts and gift vouchers (through our employee rewards app)
  • Monthly recognition awards

Esland

About Esland

At Esland, we offer care, education, and therapeutic support to 6 to 18 year olds from diverse backgrounds who have encountered a range of adverse childhood experiences.

These experiences include complex trauma and foster placement breakdowns, as well as difficulties engaging in their education setting.

The young people we support often have mental and developmental diagnoses which impact their daily functioning.

To help a young person manage these challenges we make every interaction with them therapeutic in nature.

With our support they learn how to build positive and trusting relationships, regulate their emotions and try new and positive experiences to support their transition into adulthood.

Most importantly, we put our young people at the heart of everything we do, with the dedicated support of our talented teams, partnerships, and community relationships.
