Senior Chartered Structural Engineer

Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Chartered Structural/Civil Engineer to join a growing
engineering consultancy in Cork. This role is suited to an experienced professional who can lead design
projects, provide technical oversight, manage client relationships, and support the successful delivery of
multidisciplinary engineering projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities, and
project teams while leading structural and civil engineering designs from concept through to project
completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural and civil engineering design of residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational projects
- Undertake Design Certifier and Assigned Certifier responsibilities where required
- Prepare and review structural calculations, reports, specifications, and technical documentation
- Design steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry structures
- Manage civil engineering aspects including drainage, roads, site development, and infrastructure works
- Review and approve designs prepared by engineers and technicians
- Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, local authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams
- Attend project meetings, design reviews, and site inspections
- Ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, Eurocodes, and industry standards
- Assist with project planning, programme management, and resource allocation
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians within the business
- Contribute to business development and client relationship management activities
Essential Requirements
- Existing right to work in Ireland (mandatory)
- Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body or working toward it.
- Minimum 8- 10 years' post-graduate experience within the Irish engineering sector
- Strong experience in the design of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems
- Proven experience acting as Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under BCAR regulations
- Experience in drainage, site development, and infrastructure design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other structural design software
- Excellent English communication and report-writing skills
- Full driving licence
