Paid Bi-weekly.

The incumbent is assigned primarily to Activities but is expected to work on a resident unit when nursing assistance is needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Florida.
  • Must be willing and able to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Current CPR card.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in activities department.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

The incumbent of the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) / Activities position will be responsible for ensuring that the residents Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), daily assignments and an ongoing program of activities in accordance with the comprehensive assessment are completed during the shift while identifying and resolving needs. Reports directly to the Activities Director (Therapy Aide Supervisor).

  • Assist with developing and implementing an activities program, which improves or maintains physical, mental, and social well-being with a varied work schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Assist with developing activities plan for each resident in accordance with the inter-disciplinary team process.
  • Responsible for the documentation of that plan in the resident’s medical record.
  • Responsible for initial interview with new residents and input of resident data into the medical record.
  • Performing duties of the Activities Director when the Activities Director is unavailable.
  • Responsible for maintaining the activity space and requesting equipment and supplies for the program and ensuring resident safety for individual and/or group activities.
  • Provide the assistance, when necessary, by giving residents the following Activities of Daily Living nursing care: oral hygiene; ‎bathing; dressing and grooming; hair and nail care; shaving; toileting; assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation ‎to meal service areas, and mobility.
  • Routinely observe, identify, and report resident concerns/needs to supervisor.
  • Provide ‎escort to resident appointments when required.
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, and accurately.
  • Accept assigned ‎duties in a cooperative manner.‎
  • Perform restorative nursing measures.
  • Document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident ‎and the response or lack of response to care provided. ‎
  • Perform simple nursing measures such as but not limited to applying splints and positioning devices, making occupied and ‎unoccupied beds, changing linens, taking vital signs, weights, recording intake and output, etc.
  • Follow established performance ‎standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.
  • Review care plans and perform nursing ‎care as outlined.
  • Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care of assigned residents. ‎
  • Respond to residents' requests/needs and assure residents have call lights at hand and answer call lights promptly.
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control policies and procedures.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Consistently working cooperatively with residents, resident’s representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents.
  • Performs all other related duties in an effective, timely, professional manner as assigned.
  • Attend all in-service programs classes as assigned and complete assignment.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team and other facility meetings as assigned.
  • Always Follow Residents Rights’ policies.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
