A Senior Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who excels in this role:
Under the supervision of physicians or nurses, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
Documents patient care provided.
Administers injections, vaccines, medications, and other treatments as directed by the physician.
Demonstrates advanced phlebotomy skills and specimen collection techniques.
Requests, obtains, and reviews patient records, test results, and laboratory reports prior to patient visits.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
Maintains examination rooms and clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient care.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to established procedures.
Retrieves and returns patient phone calls in a timely manner and communicates information as directed by providers.
Performs administrative and clerical duties including scheduling, patient registration, filing, data entry, and reception activities.
Assists with coordinating clinic workflow, patient follow-up activities, and provider support functions.
Participates in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives.
Monitors compliance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures and reports concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
Maintains open communication with providers, leadership, and team members to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Serves as a resource and mentor for less experienced staff members while promoting a positive team environment.

Memorial Family Healthcare in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a collaborative outpatient practice that combines Family Medicine and Urgent Care services to provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages. The clinic is focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through a team-based approach that emphasizes compassion, efficiency, and strong patient relationships. The practice supports a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare needs, from preventive and primary care services to same-day urgent care visits. Clinical staff work closely with physicians and nurse practitioners to provide assessments, triage, vaccinations, injections, EKGs, laboratory services, patient education, and follow-up care. The clinic also supports walk-in laboratory services and assists patients with ongoing care coordination.
