
The Senior Category Manager – Professional, Labor Services & Construction & Commissioning is responsible for leading sourcing activities across Labor, Professional Services, and indirect Construction & Commissioning spend for GE Gas Power.
This role partners with the Global Category Leader, regional category teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support category strategy, execute sourcing initiatives, manage supplier performance, and help deliver cost, quality, and service improvements.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support and execute sourcing strategies across Labor, Professional Services, and indirect Construction & Commissioning categories.
Manage sourcing activities across assigned category spend, with a focus on cost, service, quality, and compliance objectives.
Partner with the Global Category Leader and regional category management teams to coordinate sourcing initiatives, align on priorities, and support category plans.
Work closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Business Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Corporate, and Construction & Commissioning to understand business needs and deliver effective sourcing solutions.
Lead supplier selection, bid processes, and contract negotiations for assigned categories.
Support vendor management activities, including supplier performance, service levels, and ongoing relationship management.
Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership through sourcing, demand management, supplier optimization, and process improvement.
Help ensure compliance with company policies, sourcing procedures, and applicable contractual requirements.
Analyze spend, market conditions, and supplier capabilities to support sourcing decisions and category planning.
Drive execution of sourcing projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the assigned categories.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Significant experience in Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, or equivalent consulting experience.
Significant experience in Labor and Professional Services sourcing and/or project-based sourcing.
Experience working with labor contractors and knowledge of Professional Services and indirect Construction & Commissioning markets.
Fluent English required.
Desired Qualifications:
MBA or bachelor’s degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
Category management or sourcing experience in a multinational company.
Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, market research, and cost analysis.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management skills.
Experience with RFQ implementation and execution.
Working knowledge of ERP and sourcing/procurement systems.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results.
Experience supporting supplier consolidation and sourcing process improvement initiatives.
