Role Purpose

As a Senior Casualty Underwriter, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Casualty – International in leading, underwriting, and expanding the International Casualty portfolio across both Syndicate and Company platforms. You will take ownership of a meaningful portfolio, contribute to underwriting strategy, and drive profitable growth aligned to Everest’s appetite and long‑term objectives.This is an exciting opportunity to join a high‑performing, collaborative team, where you will have real influence over portfolio direction, broker strategy, and underwriting outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Take ownership for the underwriting, development, and profitability of a portfolio of International Casualty business across both new and renewal accounts

  • Support the execution and evolution of the International Casualty underwriting strategy, contributing insights on market trends, opportunities, and risks

  • Drive profitable growth, ensuring alignment with Syndicate and Company business plans and maintaining strong underwriting discipline

  • Build and deepen broker and client relationships, acting as a key market representative for Everest

  • Manage complex and high‑value risks, including pricing, structuring, and referral decisions within authority

  • Work closely with actuarial, claims, and exposure management teams to inform pricing decisions and portfolio performance

  • Monitor and analyse portfolio KPIs, identifying trends and implementing actions to optimise performance

  • Lead or support peer review processes, providing constructive challenge and technical guidance

  • Contribute to the development of rating models, underwriting guidelines, and product development initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest underwriting standards, governance, and regulatory requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within an underwriting role with strong technical expertise in International Casualty business

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow a portfolio while maintaining underwriting discipline

  • Strong broker relationships and market presence within the London Market

  • Excellent analytical, pricing, and decision‑making capabilities

  • Ability to operate with commercial judgement and autonomy, taking calculated underwriting risk

  • Strong strategic thinking, able to identify opportunities and threats in a changing market

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both internally and externally
