About the role

As our new Senior Capture Manager, you’re Nova’s strategic “business-winning” lead for complex, high-value opportunities across Defence, Emergency Services, Mining & Utilities and Space. You’re in the driver’s seat from early qualification through to tender submission and contract award, bringing discipline, pace and clarity to how we pursue, shape and win.

You set the win strategy, test it hard with evidence and competitive insight, and then mobilise the right people across Nova to deliver it. You balance customer needs, solution value, commercial outcomes and delivery reality, so what we win is not only compelling, but executable and profitable.

What you’ll be involved with

• Leading end-to-end capture for strategically significant opportunities, from qualification to award.
• Building and executing Capture Plans that translate opportunity insight into a clear, winnable pathway.
• Running capture governance, including bid/no-bid recommendations, capture reviews and executive approval gates.
• Shaping solutions with technical, commercial and delivery teams to ensure value-for-money, compliance, and a strong customer fit.
• Engaging senior stakeholders across Commonwealth/State Government and industry, building trust, insight and influence early.
• Developing partnerships and teaming that strengthen Nova’s competitiveness and solution depth.
• Driving a clean handover from capture into bid execution and mobilisation, reducing delivery risk.
• Embedding continuous improvement through post-tender reviews and lessons learned, lifting win-rate over time.
• Strengthening Nova’s ways of working by contributing to business-winning governance, tools, and mentoring internal bid/capture leads.

What we’d like from you

• Demonstrated success leading complex capture in government acquisition environments (Defence-aligned strongly preferred).
• A senior network across Defence/Government and at least one priority sector, with credibility and confidence engaging at executive level.
• Strong capability across strategy, competitive analysis, solution shaping, and commercial judgement (including risk and financial assumptions).
• Highly developed written and verbal communication, able to drive executive-level briefings and translate strategy into compelling tender responses.
• Experience applying formal Commonwealth/Defence business-winning frameworks and governance.
• Shipley certification (and strong practical application across multi-stakeholder pursuits).
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business or Marketing and/or significant relevant experience (typically 10+ years).
• Australian Citizenship and NV1 clearance (NV2 desirable).
• Ability to operate autonomously in a high-tempo environment, with willingness to travel as required.
