Job Description

Senior Capex Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Senior Capex Engineer to lead the regional capital investment strategy across our manufacturing sites in Parsippany, NJ; Allentown, PA; and Százhalombatta, Hungary. Based in Parsippany, NJ, this role acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for capital portfolio management, responsible for overseeing high-visibility projects ranging from $25,000 to $10,000,000+.

Unlike an execution-focused role, the Senior Capex Engineer is expected to drive continuous improvement in capital processes, influence site-level investment planning, and serve as a key advisor to leadership on technical feasibility and financial optimization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Strategy: Partner with site leadership to translate business objectives into long-term capital investment plans. Identify opportunities for regional standardization and cost-avoidance.
  • Complex Project Leadership: Lead high-complexity projects from conceptual design through commissioning. Manage large-scale cross-functional teams, ensuring technical alignment with global engineering standards.
  • Strategic Budget Management: Oversee multi-million dollar annual capital budgets. Perform advanced financial forecasting, variance analysis, and ROI modeling to support executive decision-making.
  • Process Optimization: Drive the improvement of regional capital management processes, including procurement, safety compliance, and project reporting frameworks.
  • Technical Authority: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for complex infrastructure, facilities, and equipment installations. Vet contractor proposals and ensure rigorous performance benchmarking.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Act as a liaison between plant operations, finance, and global engineering to break down cross-functional barriers and secure alignment on critical project milestones.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and oversight to junior project engineers or contract support staff, fostering a culture of rigorous project management and safety excellence.
  • Risk Governance: Develop and maintain sophisticated risk mitigation strategies, ensuring projects remain resilient against supply chain disruptions, regulatory changes, or technical failures.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in capital project management within complex industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-site portfolios with budgets exceeding $10M.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial management (Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) processes, depreciation, tax implications, and lifecycle costing).
  • Deep experience in industrial facility infrastructure, automation, and large-scale equipment installation.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies (PMP or equivalent certification highly preferred).

Eligibility Requirements

  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment

  • This is a 100% onsite position.

  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% as needed.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and steer strategic investment discussions.
  • Expertise in global manufacturing environments, specifically navigating international regulatory standards (e.g., EU vs. U.S. compliance).
  • Strong change management skills—proven ability to implement new processes across diverse, distributed teams.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities regarding project data, with a focus on predictive forecasting rather than just reactive tracking.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting complex technical/financial data to stakeholders at all levels.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
