We are looking for a talented and creative Senior Campaigns Officer to join our Communications Directorate and help lead the development and delivery of high-impact communications campaigns that support Council priorities, strengthen the Newham brand, and engage residents, partners and stakeholders.

In this role, you will plan and manage integrated campaigns across a wide range of channels, including digital, video, social media, print, partnerships, public affairs and community engagement. You will use audience insight and data to develop inclusive campaigns that reach diverse communities, encourage participation and deliver positive outcomes for residents.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, senior stakeholders and elected members to shape campaign strategies, develop compelling messaging and ensure activity is creative, coordinated and measurable. You will also play a key role in bringing together specialist expertise across the directorate, fostering collaboration and encouraging innovative campaign ideas that reflect Newham’s values and communities.

About the Job

The Senior Campaigns Officer will play a key role in delivering Newham Council’s ambition to provide consistently excellent resident experiences, as set out in our corporate plan, Building a Fairer Newham. Working within the Council’s Marketing Directorate, the postholder will lead the development and delivery of integrated communications and marketing campaigns that support Council priorities, strengthen the Newham brand, and engage residents, partners, and stakeholders.

The role is responsible for planning and managing inclusive, insight-led campaigns across a range of channels, including: digital, including video content; social media; print; public affairs; partnerships; and community engagement. Campaigns will be designed to reach diverse audiences, encourage participation, and promote positive outcomes for local communities.

The Senior Campaigns Officer will create clear campaign structures, setting objectives, identifying target audiences, developing key messages, and establishing evaluation metrics. Working closely with colleagues across the directorate, wider Council services and politicians, the postholder will ensure campaigns are strategically aligned, creatively delivered, and effectively evaluated.

A key aspect of the role is bringing together specialist expertise from across the directorate, fostering collaboration, innovation, and shared ownership of campaign activity. The postholder will encourage active participation and open dialogue, helping teams develop creative and impactful campaign ideas that resonate with Newham’s communities and reflect the Council’s values.

About the candidate

The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with strong project management skills, experience delivering integrated campaigns, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
