Purpose of the role:
The purpose of this role is to provide technical ownership and accountability for the delivery, performance, governance, and continuous improvement of calibration across Ceres. It ensures that all calibratable and reference equipment within Test, Production, and Quality environments is effectively managed, maintained, and calibrated to deliver accurate, reliable data in support of technology development and industrialisation.
The role defines and maintains the calibration operating model, including the systems, processes, standards, and governance required for safe, efficient, scalable, and auditable delivery. This includes ownership of calibration standards, asset tracking, data and records, and the optimisation of in-house and external calibration strategies, supported by appropriate tools for scheduling, monitoring, data integrity and understanding of measurement performance.
It is accountable for calibration planning and execution, including scheduling, prioritisation, and delivery of both in-house and externally managed calibration activities for managing the central asset register to ensure visibility of calibration status and demand, and hands-on support where required. Working with area managers and Quality, it ensures equipment availability and compliance, while standardising calibration processes, procedures, and systems across the business.
The role also drives performance improvement through KPI tracking and continuous enhancement of calibration capability, while acting as the technical authority on measurement systems, calibration methods, and equipment specification—supporting test stand and equipment design, commissioning, operation, and audit readiness.
Finally, it ensures calibration capability is resilient and not dependent on individuals by embedding structured processes and documentation, while building capability across the organisation through technician development, succession planning, and collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers, providing clear operational ownership of calibration within Test Operations.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
· Significant industrial experience in a laboratory, test, manufacturing, or similar engineering environment
· Strong hands-on experience in calibration, maintenance, or operation of electromechanical measurement systems
· Capable of managing calibration across a range of equipment, including scheduling, internal and external calibration, and data management
· Expertise in improving operational processes, systems, or frameworks in an engineering environment
· Experience working across teams (e.g. engineering, operations, quality) to deliver technically robust outcomes
· Demonstrated experience operating within regulated and safety-critical environments
· HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or related discipline)
· Strong practical engineering and diagnostic skills in measurement systems
· Competent in data handling and analysis using standard engineering tools (e.g. Excel or equivalent)

Ceres is a leading developer of clean energy technology; fuel cells for power generation and electrolysers for green hydrogen. Its licensing model has seen it establish partnerships with some of the world's most progressive companies, such as Doosan, Shell, Denso, Weichai and Thermax to develop clean energy systems and products at the scale and pace needed to address climate change for power generation, transportation, industry, and everyday living.
