Senior Buyer – Hybrid
A public sector organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to manage procurement activities, public contracts, and supplier relationships. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations, managing supplier performance, and supporting strategic purchasing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage public procurement processes from request to contract execution
Oversee supplier agreements, renewals, deadlines, and contractual obligations
Analyze procurement risks and provide solution-oriented advice
Draft and improve specifications and purchasing documentation
Negotiate with suppliers and maintain strong professional relationships
Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and implement improvement plans
Ensure compliance with procurement legislation and internal procedures
Support business continuity through planning and contingency measures
Share procurement expertise and contribute to process improvements
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 6 years of experience in at least two of the following:
Public procurement (supplies and services)
Supplier negotiations
Contract drafting and implementation
Strong knowledge of public procurement legislation
Experience in the public sector
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Customer-focused, analytical, and results-oriented mindset
Strong negotiation and influencing abilities
Profile
Team-oriented with leadership and coaching abilities
Organized and detail-oriented
Proactive and solution-driven
Fluent in Dutch or French; English is an asset
