Job Description

Job title – Senior Buyer (Animal Nutrition)

Location – Wagga Wagga, Australia

A member of the Regional Premix Purchasing Team, maintaining strong functional collaboration with global and regional category managers as well as local procurement leads across Premix sites. The role requires extensive engagement with regional and local business management teams to monitor market developments, co-develop strategies, and support decision-making for categories and products critical to the business.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the focal point of contact for all site stakeholders for Direct Procurement (3rd party raw materials) and Packaging materials who executes, supports and coordinates relevant purchasing activities in line with agreed purchase procedures and quality standards.
  • Owns the site overall Direct Procurement process and procedures if any and be responsible for updating and getting alignment with stakeholders to ensure Procurement is executed in an accurate and efficient way and in line with company guidelines/policies and local legislations.
  • Conducts constant spend and cost analysis to identify opportunities, priorities and improve performance.
  • Develops and implements sound, cost-effective strategies (incl. Strategic Sourcing Methodology) together with business for the purchasing of materials used in the business.
  • Monitors the market for new purchasing opportunities and keeps the organization informed about new market developments.
  • Closely collaborates with Global and Regional category managers and manages a local network to generate insights of the price developments of 3rd party raw materials and Packaging materials in the local market.
  • Initiates new material and supplier/producer qualifications and creation in systems upon request and maintain the validity of docs and master data consistency in systems.
  • Conducts bidding and negotiations with suppliers to ensure purchased price and conditions are competitive and aligned with market and company requirements, and maintains agreed price in SAP before PO creation.
  • Collaborates with Commercial and Sales on ZMGK price and submits ZGMK proposal in a quarterly basis.
  • Defines supply risk assessment and risk mitigation plan for responsible materials and suppliers and troubleshoots delivery issues to ensure supply continuity.
  • Performs supplier segmentation, and manages and develops relationship and performance (complaints, evaluation, audit) with suppliers while continually keeping an eye open for new alternative/back up suppliers and materials.
  • Perform Sourcing in a responsible way and empower suppliers towards responsible sourcing practices and fully engage with them to drive to achieve sustainability target or improve sustainability performance where applicable.
  • Contributes actively to Business Purchasing Plan by developing and implementing regional saving opportunities with TCO mindset and close cooperation with cross-function teams, and updates in system in a timely manner every month.
  • Actively contributes to OWC improvement, e.g. payment term extension, inventory management etc.
  • Extensive contact and close cooperation with internal business stakeholders to really understand business needs and collect feedback so as to drive for continuous improvement.

You bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in business administration, commerce, engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional procurement experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes (strategic and operational) and Direct procurement in terms of business dynamics, markets, innovation requirements and growth opportunities.
  • Coaching skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Negotiation and contracting skills. Strong business acumen with drive for results and taking accountability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Pragmatic with good self-organizing skills.
  • Can-do mentality, good communication, relationship management skills.
  • Good knowledge of relevant tools like SAP, Microsoft suite etc.
