Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Buyer to support our Huntsville, Alabama facility. The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of various components, machines, and equipment. Telework option will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Senior Buyer is responsible for The development and negotiation of favorable prices on higher complexity procurements, including terms, schedules and other provisions of purchase orders and acquisition contracts, ensuring consistency with client requirements and procurement policies/procedures under supervisor guidance.
    Purchase order administration/file maintenance, closeout for all procurement related activities and supplier customer management.
    Creating solicitations, supporting proposals, conducting price and cost analysis, negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms and other subcontract provisions. Procurement of higher complexity and risk, involving complex supplier negotiations.
    Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
    Reviews proposals and selects or recommends suppliers based on gathered information.
    Recommend improvements to procurement processes and procedures.
    Applies advanced knowledge of procurement, sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, cost and price analysis, and regulatory compliance, including TCoPD requirements. Requires ability to collaborate cross-functionally regarding policies, practices and procedures.
  • Supports and reviews the work of other buyers and assists the team as needed.
  • Develops or reviews prime contract flowdown documents to ensure compliance with prime contract requirements and to minimize company liability.
  • Support internal/external audit activities, including Purchase Order file reviews, as well as, data request from internal / external customers.
  • Supports peer reviews and mentoring of other Buyers.

Basic Qualifications

· Typically requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.

· Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Strong Customer Service mentality.

· Ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills.

· Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Knowledge in government contracts preferred.

· Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

· Must have the interpersonal skills to work effectively with others within the team and collaborate cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

· Costpoint experience preferred.

· Terms and Conditions negotiation experience preferred.

· Knowledge of build to print, fabricated parts, and components preferred.

· Perspective Senior Buyers should have a working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and agency specific supplements such as the DFARS.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $82,550.00 - $149,225.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
