Commodity Buyer – Strategic Procurement (Mexico)
Location: Tijuana, Mexico
Job Type: Full-Time (Onsite 5 days per week, No Remote)
Travel Required: Occasional (US & Southern California)
Language Requirements: Spanish (native), English (professional proficiency)

Solar Turbines is seeking a Commodity Buyer with 1–3 years of procurement experience to join our Global Supply Chain Team. This role is ideal for a professional who is polite and respectful, yet confident and outgoing in managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.

You will be responsible for executing strategic sourcing activities, managing supplier performance, and supporting the deployment of globally effective procurement solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Release and manage Purchase Orders with accuracy and urgency.
• Negotiate contracts including Long-Term Agreements and Purchase & Sale Agreements.
• Administer material surcharge agreements and ensure cost alignment
• Share performance metrics with suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate supplier visits to Solar Turbines facilities.
• Own the commercial relationship with suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact
• Serve as the liaison between suppliers and Solar, ensuring inquiries are directed to the appropriate internal teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and support procurement capability deployment.
• Deliver responsive internal customer support.
• Offer guidance throughout the purchasing process to ensure a smooth and informed experience
• Contribute to strategic initiatives including best practices, tools, and training development.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
MUST have some experience negotiating contracts, purchase part costs, and managing supplier relationships. This will be verified.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Fluent in English.

• Visa for US travel

• Sentri or Global Entry for us travel (preferred)
Preferred Skills
• Working knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques.
• Extensive experience in negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with matrix management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong understanding of cost management and category management principles.
• Experience in contracts administration and compliance.
• Ability to analyze procurement data and present findings to leadership.
