This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join Moog’s Purchasing Group in Salt Lake City, which is a high-volume production facility for Moog Space and Defense Group The primary focus points of this position are to provide purchasing support for the assembly and test of defense products and to develop and manage supplier relationships.

This is an on-site, collaborative working environment that offers a 9/80 schedule to include every other Friday off! ( Formal schedule is Mon – Thurs, 7:00am – 4:00pm, every other Fri 7:00am – 3:00pm)

As our Senior Buyer, you will make a critical impact in this role by holding responsibility for:

  • Identification of sources for supply that meet Moog’s requirements for best value, on-time delivery, and high quality.

  • Execute the procurement process, which include sourcing, supplier selection, technical evaluation, cost/price analysis, and purchase order generation, documentation and supplier communication and oversight.

  • Developing/maintaining deep knowledge of the supply base, current pricing, and market conditions.

  • Develop and negotiate long-term purchasing agreements/purchase orders dealing with moderately complex commodities.

  • Develop strong working relationships and consistent communication channels with suppliers.

  • Lead regular procurement status meetings with suppliers in support of two-way accountability.

  • Monitor supplier performance and work with Quality and Supplier Development Engineering on issues.

  • Resolve issues to ensure on time deliveries. This can include issues with suppliers, receiving and cert problems, and invoice issues.

  • Develop abstracts of bids from information obtained from purchase requisitions.

  • Maintain and update procurement data through Moog’s ERP system.

  • Interface with Program Planning to coordinate requisition releases and resolve issues.

  • Evaluate and establish economical order quantities.

  • Ensure all purchase order documentation is accurate and compliant to the FAR and contract law.

  • Support Proposal Management in requests for quotation, supplier selection, and cost/price analysis of information contained in support of both proposals and purchase orders.

Here’s what you will need to bring with you:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a mechanical/aerospace procurement environment.

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, and industry requirements.

  • Knowledge of and experience with FAR and DFARS procurement regulations.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and inspection procedures.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Certification in Purchasing, Inventory Control, and/or Supply Chain Management

  • Production planning familiarity

  • Lean six sigma methodology certification/training/experience

Salary Range Transparency:

Salt Lake City, UT $90,000.00–$110,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
