The Role:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing the complete procurement cycle, supplier development, and supply chain operations with a strong focus on mechanical and fabrication items. This role requires expertise in contract negotiations, cost control, vendor assessment, and material requirement planning to ensure timely availability of resources for production and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RFQ & Procurement: Prepare, issue, and evaluate RFQs; negotiate and finalize purchase orders for raw materials, consumables, and services.
  • Contract Negotiations: Lead negotiations with suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms and long-term agreements.
  • Cost Control: Monitor procurement spend, implement cost-saving strategies, and ensure adherence to budget.
  • Vendor Development: Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers; strengthen relationships with existing vendors.
  • Supplier Assessment: Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance.
  • Material Requirement Planning (MRP): Collaborate with production teams to forecast material needs; plan procurement schedules accordingly.
  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities including sourcing, inventory control, logistics, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Mechanical & Fabrication Focus: Source and manage procurement of mechanical components, fabrication materials, steels, alloys, polymers, and shop-floor consumables.
  • Machine AMC & Plant Maintenance: Negotiate and manage annual maintenance contracts; coordinate plant repair and spare parts procurement.
  • Purchase Records & Budget Analysis: Maintain accurate purchase records; prepare budget vs. actual spend reports and variance analysis.
  • Logistics & Export Coordination: Liaise with DHL, FedEx, and other logistics partners for shipment planning and export documentation.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to procurement policies, maintenance schedules, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in technical procurement, supply chain, and vendor management.
  • Strong background in mechanical and fabrication items procurement.
  • Knowledge of AMC contracts, plant maintenance practices, and export documentation is an advantage.
  • Strong RFQ Expertise: Skilled in drafting, issuing, and evaluating RFQs.
  • Contract Negotiation & Cost Control: Proven ability to negotiate contracts and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Vendor Development & Supplier Assessment: Experience in supplier qualification, audits, and performance evaluation.
  • Supply Chain Management: Hands-on experience in procurement, inventory, logistics, and subcontractor coordination.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
