Global Procurement drives strategic and commercial value for the bank by working with colleagues and suppliers to source goods and services. It is also responsible for operating, managing and transforming source-to-pay processes and systems, whilst embedding HSBC’s sustainability strategy into its supply chain. Procurement works closely with other parts of HSBC to provide leadership of the bank’s third-party and supplier relationships.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Buyer (2 year contract).

In this role you will:

  • Act as the primary Sourcing point of contact for all vendor-related matters, including contract queries, commercial discussions, and issue resolution.
  • Develop strong stakeholder engagements with different business units for the identification, on-boarding and on-going management of vendors
  • Identify and manage risks that would impact the overall delivery timelines of the transaction
  • Ensure contract lifecycle is managed
  • Guide the contract owners on the end-to-end vendor onboarding processes and on-going obligations.
  • Partner closely with SMEs (Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Operational Risk, Security, Fraud Risk, etc.) to ensure merger-related vendor contracts are reviewed appropriately and HSBC risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.

To be successful you will need:

  • Proven experience in transactional procurement and sourcing, ideally within the financial services industry, including contract review work supporting business change (e.g., mergers, entity consolidation, or restructuring).
  • Strong understanding of contract terms and commercial risk (e.g., liability, termination, SLAs, pricing, data/security, regulatory clauses) with the ability to challenge and improve supplier positions.
  • Demonstrated win-win negotiation capability, able to deliver outcomes under tight timelines and with limited resources, while maintaining appropriate procurement governance and controls.

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role. HSBC Group reserves its position with regard to any steps which it may take in relation to any material adverse findings which arise either when the checks are originally completed, and/or if relevant, on an ongoing basis. For more information about the enhanced vetting for this role please contact the recruiter for this role. (Additional text if role is Enhanced vetting)

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
