Job Description

Responsibilities

Peraton Labs is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the FAA BNATCS program by partnering closely with the Lead Systems Architect and other program stakeholders to elicit, organize, and translate user needs into actionable requirements for dashboards, visualization, and decision-support tools. This role will play a critical part in helping the team understand what users actually need to see, track, and act on within the Digital Command Center environment.

This ideal candidate brings a strong business or functional background with experience gathering requirements for technology-enabled solutions. This person should be highly effective at asking the right questions, clarifying ambiguity, and pulling meaningful operational needs out of stakeholders who may not naturally express them in structured or implementation-ready terms. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to ambiguity and helping shape products that are genuinely useful to end users.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Partner with the Lead Systems Architect and cross-functional stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document requirements for dashboards, visualizations, and user-facing decision support tools
  • Conduct stakeholder discussions, interviews, and follow-up sessions to identify what users need to know, monitor, and act on in support of program objectives
  • Translate business, functional, and operational needs into structured requirements that can be understood and acted upon by technical teams
  • Help distinguish between requested features and underlying user needs to ensure the right problems are being solved
  • Organize and document requirements, user workflows, use cases, priorities, assumptions, and open questions
  • Support the definition of dashboard views, data presentation needs, user interactions, and role-based information requirements
  • Work across teams to ensure requirements remain aligned with stakeholder expectations, program goals, and implementation realities
  • Help identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, inconsistencies, or missed dependencies before they impact downstream delivery
  • Support requirements traceability and follow-through as dashboard and visualization needs evolve
  • Contribute to a disciplined and user-centered approach to solution development in a complex, fast-moving environment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in business analysis, functional analysis, requirements elicitation, workforce planning, technical talent acquisitions, operations analysis, or a related role
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting requirements supporting technology-enabled programs
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous needs and translate them into structured, actionable requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively across business, operational, and technical teams
  • Comfort operating in environments where user needs are evolving and not always initially well-defined
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain an FAA Public Trust suitability

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience eliciting requirements for dashboards, reporting environments, analytics tools, or visualization platforms
  • Experience supporting software, systems, digital product, or technical delivery teams
  • Strong interviewing, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Familiarity with user workflows, use cases, process mapping, or journey-based requirement development
  • Experience working in aviation, aerospace, transportation, government, military, or other complex operational environments
  • Ability to think critically about what information users truly need versus what they initially request
  • Familiarity with Agile, iterative delivery environments, or product development workflows
  • Exposure to data-driven products, operational dashboards, or decision-support systems
