Job Description

We are working closely with a local authority in Rugby to assist with the appointment of a Senior Business Partner, on a 6-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £357.73- £450.53 per day

Summary:

The Senior Business Partner will provide high-quality, proactive financial advice and business partnering support to Service Directors and Service Managers across the organisation. The role will work closely with individual services to understand their operational and financial position, identify issues and risks, develop robust forecasts and provide practical solutions that improve financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior financial business partner to allocated Service Directors and Service Managers.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the services supported, including their operational priorities, financial pressures, risks and opportunities.
  • Guide and train service managers to improve their understanding of financial management, budgets, forecasting and financial accountability.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial forecasts, ensuring that changes in service activity and their financial implications are fully understood.
  • Monitor budgets and identify areas of overspend, investigating the underlying causes and agreeing appropriate corrective action with services.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant continuing professional development in local government finance, financial management or business partnering would be advantageous.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience as a qualified accountant in a senior financial business partnering or financial management role.
  • Experience of working directly with Service Directors and Service Managers to improve financial management and performance.
  • Demonstrable experience of investigating and resolving complex financial issues.
