Job Description

Hello. We're Virgin Australia.

We're the airline that's always done things a little differently. Our way. The Virgin way.

We're on a mission to make flying better than "nice". To achieve that, we need talented people who are passionate about creating exceptional experiences, doing the right thing, and putting safety first. Above all, we're looking for people who thrive on building trusted relationships and making a meaningful impact.

About the role

As a Senior People Business Partner, you will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders across one of Virgin Australia's largest and most complex corporate portfolios.

Partnering with Executive and General Manager level stakeholders, you'll provide strategic and commercially focused people advice across all aspects of human resources, employee relations, organisational effectiveness and workforce planning. This is a high-impact role requiring strong judgement, the ability to navigate complexity, and the credibility to influence outcomes across a fast-paced and evolving business.

Working closely with our Centres of Excellence, you'll help shape and deliver people strategies that enable business performance, strengthen leadership capability, and support organisational transformation.

What you'll be doing

  • Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders, providing strategic advice and coaching on people, culture and organisational matters.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and execute people strategies aligned to business priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Influence and support organisational design, workforce planning, leadership capability and change initiatives across a complex corporate portfolio.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations, workplace relations, performance management and complex people matters.
  • Working with our Centres of Excellence, support the resolution of sensitive and high-risk employee issues, including investigations, disciplinary matters and workplace grievances.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist Centres of Excellence to deliver enterprise-wide people initiatives and annual HR programs.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to drive alignment and successful business outcomes.
  • Coach leaders to build capability, improve team effectiveness and foster a high-performing, engaged culture.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, ensuring people impacts are effectively managed and embedded.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People practices, processes and ways of working.

You'll be great in this role if you

  • Have significant experience as a senior HR or People Business Partner within a large, complex and fast-paced organisation.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of partnering with Executive and senior leadership teams to influence strategic business outcomes.
  • Are highly skilled at building credibility and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Bring deep expertise across employee relations, workplace relations, organisational development and performance management.
  • Have experience supporting complex organisational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Are commercially minded, pragmatic and able to balance business objectives with people outcomes.
  • Possess exceptional communication, influencing and coaching skills.
  • Thrive in environments where priorities shift and complexity is the norm.
  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline.

We're committed to looking after our people with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry, including:

  • Heavily discounted air travel for you and your loved ones, including $1,000 in annual travel credits.
