Diebold Nixdorf is seeking a high-energy, creative Senior-level Business Development Manager to accelerate growth across the North American Grocery Retail market / Tier 1, 2, Grocery Retailers. This role is for a proven “hunter” who thrives on opening doors, creating demand where none previously existed, and translating a differentiated value proposition into new revenue opportunities.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of Diebold Nixdorf’s retail modernization strategy, including our open, ecosystem-driven approach that integrates best-in-class third-party technologies with our software, services, and automation platforms. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable shaping go-to-market strategies as they are building executive relationships and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of success in sales within Point of Sale (POS), kiosk, self-checkout, mobile computing, and/or broader retail technology solutions.

  • Identify, pursue, and close net-new retail opportunities across North America, with a primary focus on general merchandise and specialty retail.
  • Clearly articulate Diebold Nixdorf’s retail value proposition, emphasizing operational modernization, cloud-enabled platforms, and ecosystem flexibility.
  • Develop and execute creative go-to-marketstrategies, including joint pursuits with third-party technology partners
  • Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with retail decision makers (CIO, COO, CTO, Store Operations, Digital).
  • Act as a market “edge,” bringing insights on retailer priorities, competitive dynamics, and emerging technology trends back into the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with product, partner, services, and marketing teams to shape compelling, outcome-driven solutions.
  • Own the full opportunity lifecycle—from prospecting and qualification through deal structure, negotiation, and close.
  • Consistently exceed pipeline creation and revenue targets.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of business development or enterprise sales experience in grocery retail technology, SaaS, services, or systems integration - Tier 1, 2 Grocery Retailers.
  • Proven track record of success in sales within Point of Sale POS (Hardware and Software) kiosk, self-checkout, mobile computing, electronic shelf labels and/or broader retail technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with a track record of net-new logo acquisition
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, store systems, and digital transformation
  • Experience selling complex, multi-solution offerings, including partner-led or ecosystem-based solutions
  • High creativity and comfort with ambiguity—able to create opportunity, not wait for it
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence and lead without authority
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time - Willingness to travel as needed across North America

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Grocery Retail Store Technology and its utilization within the environment.
  • General knowledge of Diebold Nixdorf products and services is a plus.
  • Proven success in high quota carrying position.
  • Consultative sales experience with complex solution design is desired.
  • Exhibit skills, characteristics, traits and work habits that greatly enhance the likelihood of success as a Sales Manager, ex: solution-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset, time and territory management, customer empathy, and TEAMWORK
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills at all levels of the organization, including senior executive levels.
  • Proficient in all MS Office products with an emphasis on Co-Pilot, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
  • Possess experience with and high acumen within Salesforce.com to manage activities, pipeline, and forecasting.

Total Potential Compensation Range: comprised of $140,000-$160,000 base salary plus sales incentive compensation. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including your qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, internal equity, and relevant experience. The Company’s Sales Incentive Plan is subject to the rules governing the plan and the metrics established on an annual basis by the plan.
