This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager based in Canada.
This role is focused on driving new client acquisition and sustainable revenue growth through proactive business development and consultative sales.
You will own an individual new-business target and take responsibility for generating opportunities across outbound prospecting, inbound leads, referrals, networking, and industry events.
The position offers significant ownership across the full sales cycle, from qualification and discovery through solution presentation, negotiation, and closing.
You will build trusted relationships with prospects and clients while identifying opportunities to expand accounts and introduce broader solutions.
Working closely with regional leadership, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success, you will contribute to a collaborative, high-performance commercial environment.
The role is well suited to a resilient, target-driven sales professional who enjoys self-generating pipeline and selling complex solutions.
It also provides opportunities to deepen sector expertise, develop leadership capabilities, and progress toward more senior commercial responsibilities.
Accountabilities
- Own and consistently deliver an individual new-business revenue target, maintaining a strong focus on pipeline generation and sales performance.
- Proactively build pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, industry engagement, events, and other self-generated business development activities.
- Respond quickly to high-intent marketing-qualified leads, qualify prospects using appropriate criteria, convert qualified opportunities into sales opportunities, and present relevant solutions.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, needs assessment, solution presentation, negotiation, commercial discussions, and closing.
- Maintain consistent prospect engagement and follow-up across multiple touchpoints to maximize conversion opportunities.
- Use sales intelligence and prospecting tools to develop targeted calling lists and identify new business opportunities.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, client meetings, and networking events to generate leads, strengthen relationships, and increase market visibility.
- Identify opportunities to introduce broader services and develop a deeper understanding of prospect and client accounts.
- Close opportunities within agreed commercial parameters, working with regional leadership for alignment and approval where required.
- Escalate larger, more complex, or strategically significant opportunities to senior leadership or appropriate external resources for support through the closing process.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, activity tracking, opportunity data, and sales forecasts to provide clear visibility into pipeline health and performance.
- Partner with Marketing to convert campaigns and qualified leads into new commercial opportunities.
- Collaborate with Operations and Customer Success teams to support a smooth transition and onboarding experience for newly acquired clients.
- Work with regional leadership to develop outbound strategies, receive coaching on complex opportunities, and continuously improve sales execution.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and contributing to collective results.
- Take ownership of professional development by seeking feedback, participating in training, strengthening sector knowledge, and continuously refining sales techniques.
Requirements
- Proven track record in new-business sales, ideally within industry standards, compliance, consultancy, or another sector involving complex solution selling.
- Demonstrated ability to self-generate leads, develop a consistent pipeline, and convert opportunities into revenue.
- Experience consistently meeting or exceeding individual sales targets and commercial objectives.
- Strong understanding of the complete B2B sales cycle, including prospecting, qualification, discovery, consultative selling, negotiation, and closing.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into compelling commercial solutions.
- Resilient, ambitious, proactive, and highly motivated by measurable results.
- Positive mindset and ability to remain persistent and effective when managing complex or lengthy sales cycles.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
- Confident use of CRM platforms such as Salesforce, with a strong commitment to accurate and consistent pipeline management.
- Comfortable using modern sales prospecting and intelligence tools to identify and engage potential customers.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, Marketing, Operations, Customer Success, and other internal stakeholders.
- Willingness to attend industry events and engage directly with prospects, partners, and clients.
- Strong interest in developing industry expertise and continuously improving commercial knowledge and sales capabilities.
- Demonstrated ambition and readiness to take on increasing responsibility and progress toward more senior commercial roles.
