About the Role

The Senior Business Development Executive will serve as a trusted member of the Investment Funds practice group. Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, this role will have an important role to play in contributing to the development and execution of practice group strategy and will provide strategic and operational support to the business development function, supporting the future growth and success of the business. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategic planning

  • Work closely with the Senior Business Development Manager to support the implementation of BD plans aligned to practice group objectives
  • Track and report on business development activities, helping to capture outcomes, follow-up actions and ROI where possible
  • Use internal BD and marketing technologies and databases to support planning, targeting, execution and measurement
  • Coordinate planning and activation for Investment Funds events, sponsorships, client briefings, referrer events, conferences and profile-raising initiatives
  • Project manage agreed legal directory submissions, including submission timetables, partner input, deal highlights, referee coordination and interview preparation

Business development & client relationship management

  • Support business development activity across assigned practices, working proactively with partners to target and develop new and existing clients in line with BD plans and relevant CRM programmes
  • Support the planning and coordination of BD and CRM trips, including briefing packs and client research
  • Support the preparation of high‑quality credentials, tailored proposals, pitches and RFP responses, ensuring strategic positioning, consistency and timely delivery
  • Maintain and update CRM data, including client and target lists, pipeline activity and reporting
  • Monitor market, client and competitor developments and share relevant insights with the BD team and lawyers to support planning and targeting activity

Management and coordination

  • Work closely with the Senior Business Development Manager to prioritise activity, manage deadlines, coordinate partner input and ensure the effective execution of the funds BD plan
  • Coordinate effectively with the Business Development Administrator to ensure the seamless execution of logistics, document formatting, scheduling, data entry, list management, CRM updates and related administrative support
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the firm
  • Contribute to team projects and cross-functional initiatives, developing BD knowledge through collaboration and hands-on experience
  • Support ad hoc strategic projects outside of day-to-day responsibilities that benefit the wider function and firm

EXPERIENCE

They will be able to provide strategic as well as operational support and be an excellent communicator with good organisational and team player skills. Attention to detail and the ability to handle a consistent and varied workload is essential. The individual's skills and experience will include:

  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a business development and/or marketing role in professional services, with knowledge of the finance or legal industry, B2B audiences and relevant BD and marketing tactics
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or relevant professional qualifications
  • Experience with InterAction or similar CRM systems, including the ability to maximise data value and support meaningful reporting
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to build strong relationships within the Marketing team, both locally and globally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong project management, organisational, time management and administrative skills
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a positive, solution-focused attitude
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to understand and respond quickly to the needs of internal stakeholders
  • The ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously, including associated deadlines and budgets, while remaining calm under pressure and applying logical and creative problem-solving
  • Strong service orientation, including responsiveness, clear expectation-setting, thoughtful questioning, solution development and ownership of issues through to resolution
