Airbus Defence & Space is looking for a Senior Business Developer Defence (m/f) to join Public Safety & Security (PSS) at Ulm, Germany

As the Senior Business Developer, you will be the bridge between our established Public Safety and Security (PSS) critical communication solutions and the specialized requirements of the global Defence market. You will provide the "Defence DNA" necessary to validate our strategy, identify high-value portfolio extensions, and support regional teams in navigating complex local military ecosystems.

Your challenges:

  • Strategic Portfolio Extension:
    • Analyze the gap between current Public Safety offerings and specific Defence requirements (e.g., ruggedization, tactical features, security standards).
  • Regional Strategy Support:
    • Collaborate with Regional Leads (WENA, NCEE, MEA, etc.) to build Local Value Maps and Maps of Influence
    • Validate local competitor landscapes and identify strategic advantages such as local sovereignty or technical edges.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Engagement:
    • Lead customer exploration workshops to test new ideas and capture direct end-user feedback.
    • Coordinate with the External Expert Group (veterans and end-users) to ensure PSS solutions meet real-world operational needs.
  • Compliance & Standards Leadership:
    • Define the roadmap for mandatory certifications (e.g., NATO classifications)
    • Ensure all regional intelligence is synthesized into a cohesive global strategy.

Short & Medium Term Success Criteria

The "Bridge" Report: Successful delivery of a map showing how existing solutions can be used for Defence. Gap Backlog: A prioritized list of portfolio extensions required for defence contracts. Global Synergy: Identification of generic solution specifications that reduce fragmenting the portfolio into regional silos

Your profile:

  • Education: University Degree
  • Experience: Vast Defence and ideally also COMMs expertise for 10-15 years
  • Defence Expertise: Deep experience in the defence sector, ideally as a veteran or a long-term strategic consultant with a technical background. Profound understanding for defence comms or C4ISR.
  • Critical Communications: Proven understanding of critical communication technologies and their transition from legacy to modern standards.
  • Market Intelligence: Ability to map "networks of influence"—identifying decision makers, budget holders and operators of the equipment.
  • Business Acumen: Experience in business case evaluation, ROI analysis, and go-to-market strategy development.
