Job Description

Are you as excited as we are when we talk about the storage and distribution of bulk liquids at our state-of-the-art tank containers and terminals in key markets? Join us as a Senior Business Application Consultant.

In this role, you will take ownership of the most complex and cross-application technical incidents across Stolt Tankers’ business applications, ensuring they are resolved effectively and sustainably. You will lead root cause analyses, manage vendor and SLA performance for key applications, and act as the primary technical escalation point for the Technical Business Application Consultant team. Alongside incident resolution, you will drive the technical workstreams of implementations, upgrades, migrations, cutovers, and decommissioning projects while providing subject-matter-expert input into solution architecture and technical design decisions.

Stolt Tankers, a division of Stolt-Nielsen Limited (SNL), is the specialist in transporting bulk liquids: chemicals, clean petroleum products, vegetable oils, biofuels, and oleochemicals. We are building a winning culture that is characterized by a safe, sustainable, and continuous improvement mindset. As part of this, we are rolling out continuous improvement training to all our shore-based and seagoing colleagues.

What you will be doing

You will be the senior technical expert for key business applications, taking ownership of complex incidents that span multiple systems and require deep technical investigation. On a daily basis, you will liaise closely with business stakeholders and end users to understand issues, gather detailed technical information, and provide clear updates on solution progress while managing multiple open support tickets. You will work with other Technical Business Application Consultants, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues from simple user problems to major cross-application incidents, leading root cause analysis and ensuring permanent fixes are implemented. A significant part of your work will involve defining and maintaining test strategies for the application portfolio, reviewing and signing off test plans and results, and validating patches and upgrades before they are released into production. You will lead the technical workstream of projects such as application implementations, upgrades, cutover planning, migration validation, and end-of-life phase-outs, providing SME input into solution architecture and technical design decisions. In addition, you will mentor and coach junior Technical Business Application Consultants, oversee technical risk and compliance aspects such as patching cadence, access reviews, audit evidence, and vulnerability checks, and help manage the Stolt Tankers Business Technology and Innovation (BTI) infrastructure landscape. Throughout, you will operate in a collaborative, project-oriented environment where you coordinate delivery with BT SNL and infrastructure teams, using tools and technologies such as SQL, Office 365, Azure integration, automation workflows, and SharePoint to support reliable and secure application operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with key business stakeholders to maintain an open dialogue on issues and solution progress
  • Provide support of applications by addressing tickets, prioritizing and managing multiple open cases at one time
  • Troubleshoot simple to complex issues reported by end users, investigating and capturing relevant information so tickets can be resolved
  • Translate technical information for end users and provide end user support, instruction, and training
  • Act as technical escalation point for major or cross-application incidents that Level 1/2 support and junior Technical Business Application Consultants cannot resolve
  • Define and maintain the test strategy for the applications portfolio; review, sign off, and provide feedback on test plans and results prepared by other consultants
  • Lead the technical workstream of IT/Business technology projects — implementation, upgrades, cutover planning, migration validation, and phase-out of end-of-life software — and act as SME input into solution architecture/technical design decisions
  • Lead root cause analysis on recurring or major incidents and drive structural fixes with vendors and development teams
  • Own the SLA and delivery relationship for specific 3rd-party applications in relation to Infra, by reviewing vendor-delivered patches and upgrades before release
  • Mentor and coach junior Technical Business Application Consultants, and own technical risk/compliance elements of the application portfolio (patching cadence, Infra access reviews, audit evidence, and vulnerability checks) with the 3rd Party Application Project Lead and Infra Lead
  • Manage the Stolt Tankers Business Technology and Innovation (BTI) infrastructure landscape, and lead technical delivery of projects assigned by BT SNL (Stolt-Nielsen Limited)
  • No direct reports; mentors junior Technical Business Application Consultants

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Substantial experience in enterprise application support, technical consulting, or application administration, including resolving complex incidents across interconnected systems
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, databases, integrations, operating systems, networking, and access management relevant to the supported environment
  • Demonstrated experience handling senior technical escalations, leading root cause investigations, and implementing permanent corrective actions
  • Proven experience leading technical activities for application implementations, upgrades, migrations, cutovers, and decommissioning
  • Experience defining test strategies, reviewing test evidence, validating vendor patches, and assessing release readiness
  • Experience monitoring SLAs, managing technical escalations, and coordinating delivery with third-party vendors and infrastructure teams
  • Practical experience with vulnerability checks, patch schedules, access reviews, and preparing audit evidence
  • Ability to mentor junior consultants, coordinate technical teams, and explain complex issues to nontechnical stakeholders
  • Technical skills: knowledge in SQL, Office 365, Azure Integration, automation workflows, and SharePoint
  • Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, relevant platform or infrastructure certifications, and software testing certifications could be preferred
  • Familiarity with shipping or tanker operations would also be useful given the Stolt Tankers context

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation package aligned with your seniority and technical expertise in enterprise applications and infrastructure
  • Opportunities to lead high-impact technical projects across implementations, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning within a complex, global logistics environment
  • A collaborative environment where you work closely with business stakeholders, BTI, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors, with real influence on solution architecture and technical design decisions
  • Strong focus on professional development, including support for relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, platform, infrastructure, and testing certifications) and continuous learning in cloud, integration, and automation technologies
  • Exposure to a unique combination of maritime, logistics, and technology domains, allowing you to deepen your experience in critical, business-driven applications and infrastructure
  • The chance to mentor junior consultants and shape best practices in incident management, testing, release management, and technical governance across the application portfolio
  • A culture that values safety, reliability, and continuous improvement, giving you the space to drive root cause analysis, structural fixes, and long-term technical enhancements rather than just quick fixes
  • Flexible and supportive work arrangements that recognize the need to balance travel, project delivery, and personal commitments where business requirements allow
  • Inclusion in a global organization with clear values and a long-term outlook, offering future career pathways within Stolt Tankers and across the wider Stolt-Nielsen group
